Demon Space by FreezedIce

[raw]
made by FreezedIce for LD 42 (JAM)

Demons are taking over your computer and eat your disk space.

They come through portal folder that you need to close. . . . (Like in first level you need to delete files in alphabetical order)

-To clear room you have to delete all (except cultist) files inside the room folder in specific order

-But you cant just delete it and you need to clear all rooms inside portal

-You need to think of the right order of deleting files

-Talk to Cultists and Demons to get useful hints.

-Cultist gets angry (!!!) if you make mistake you need to wait 5 seconds to try again

-ALL ORDERING STARTS FROM BOTTOM TO TOP (e.g. A-Z, 1-99, cold-hot...)

WARNING GAME DOESNT HAVE CONSOLE OR WINDOW (IT RUNS IN BACKGROUND) YOU HAVE TO INTERACT THROUGH WINDOWS EXPLORER GAME MAY CONTAIN BUGS :)

Best game i've played so far in the jam! Very original and with pretty nice puzzles. I couldn't figure out the Council Room one, but i had a blast playing it. And now i can't stop listening to The Beatles! Just wished there was a way to close the game, since it runs in the background. Had to terminate it manually hahah. But overall, Congratulations man!

Genius! This was a fantastic concept. Solved it all! Well, the library was auto-sorted by windows explorer ;) And The Beatles wikipedia page sure is confusing :p Loved it, awesome job!

Wow haha, I really liked it. The game idea is quite similar to the game we made, albeit you made it a lot more interesting and cooler, because yours literally takes place on one's PC! Amazing!

This is a very clever take on the theme, and well executed. The challenges are well made. It was fun to solve, though I am stuck at the council room. A great original submission, thank you for your work.

Pretty cool concept, I liked it! At least got 3 rooms done :D. Remember me from that one jam on itch.io we did together? I made a game this jam too, maybe you wanna check it out!

Very novel meta concept. Puzzles were interesting and engaging, although had to do a bit of trial and error not being a Beatles ardent fan. Not really feeling the theme of "running out of space" though.

Congrats for the crazy idea! This game is a gem!

The puzzles were all fun. Except for the one where you have to delete the books in alphabethical order, since windows does it automatically for you :P (and even if it didn't, it's kind of a lame idea)

The main downside to this concept is that no puzzle game is right without some nice music. Maybe you can add an audio file that we have to play by ourselves?

This is a really cool concept! I enjoyed solving the puzzles, though the council room one seems a little obtuse. I liked the ascii art for the cultist a lot too, it's a nice touch

I absolutely loved it! I thought it was such a smart and cool idea, I had a lot of fun playing it!. I particularly liked the council room challenge, also as @cydouzo and @undefinist said the library challenge is kind of already done for you by windows explorer sorting the books. I didn't quite understand the color splat puzzle, I started trying going from darkest to lightest then had to use trial and error to finish it off, maybe some of the hues threw me off. All in all, amazing job!

@cydouzo, @autumnotopia , @bearmask-studios Thank you all for your reviews. Library room is a kind of tutorial so it should be very easy. Also I will try to add music but I dont know if its legit because jam is over.

Finally found something like this! Actually one of my teammates suggested making a similar game, but one that's actually bloating the player's hard drive, so you can imagine why we didn't take that route

**WARNING: SPOILERS**

*Really, don't proceed if you want to solve the game yourself*

Okay, the riddles were quite challenging, especially the council room. Proud to solve it on third try!

I was only quite disappointed by reading room. After quite a few minutes calculating the sum of each file name in ascii value, I found out that it was just alphabetical sort, bummer. Edit: And now I just realized you mentioned the alphabetical order in the the description :face_palm:

Oh and the children's room; first I thought it was the byte size for each file. Didn't quite understand even when solving it. Was it the brightness value?

Gae is awesome, liked the idea. FInished everything except Council room.
@freezedice
SPOILERS ALERT
here is my solution for Council Room, can you help me wit my logic?
1) Obviously Baphomet and Incubus liars
2) Than Krampus is also liar, while Baphomet is a lir
3) Than checnikg Annamelech, we unnderstand that he is telling the truth and Rusalka lies
I didn't quite got what is Archon talking about and Behemoth is also talking about demons starting with C but there is any. I tried a lot of different combinations of it (even thinkin that Aamon lying and deleting all the truth tellers), but nothing works.
Can you help me, I am really interested!

@sam-machell im not sure if it will work but i can send you the python script if you need

@badabooom63 you did everything right but youve missed a few things.

WARNING SPOILERS!!!

Archon says that if you say nothing then you are a lier. That means that Krampus is a lier if you suppose that Archon is a truth-teller. Then you have more than 4 liers that means that Mephistopheles is a lier too. Thats all :) Maybe I have mistakes so you can correct me.

(So the liers are Baphomet, Incubus, Krampus, Mephistopheles, Murmur, Rusalka)
