Super Power Omega OP Force Sigma: Lasers of Lightning (SPOOFSLOL) by happygreenfrog

[raw]
made by happygreenfrog for LD 40 (JAM)

SPOOFSLOL is a shoot 'em up with a twist: Whenever you collect a power-up, the enemies get the power-up as well! Sure, that fancy new tri-shot is going to be handy, but now the enemies are firing three shots, making them harder to dodge. And while that regenerating health bar sure is nice, the enemies are regenerating too.

Oh, and just as a note: Game made with CF2.5, art made in Krita and (in a few rare cases) CF2.5's built-in graphics editor, audio stuffs made in Audacity and OpenMPT.

Here's some screenshots:

Nice title intro :P A quaint little SHMUP, thoo I'm not entirely certain where the theme comes in... too many bullets on-screen?

@mrthee, the theme comes in to play because the power-ups mostly make things worse for you rather than better, especially the death ray, the (REDACTED, 8th power-up), and the triple shot.

Haha! The intro was pretty epic, not going to lie. The game was fun. It can get pretty crazy after enough upgrades, which fits nicely into the theme. Great job!

Really hard for me....but maybe that just tell me that when you get more powerful things get worse. I love the title part. The way you get power-ups is nice.

Haha! This was fun and addictive! It was cool to see what upgrade I would get next! And then there were bananas! I thought I'd won and then the final boss showed up and lazered me ;_;. Great entry!

A good take on the theme. I would have liked to have the option of picking up the powerups or not, so that I could weigh the advantage of me getting the powerup against the disadvantage of the enemy getting the powerup, but other than that it was fun. Good job!

Fun game, love how chaotic it gets when you have all these different power ups! My games got a similar idea with the bullet hell style except you create your own bullet hell! :smiley_cat: Well done!

That's king of the bullet hell right there!I really love the idea of the enemies getting the power-ups at the same time as you and it means that you remain constantly under-powered due to the number of enemies on screen. The intro also made me laugh. Great job all around.

Man, At first I thought it would be a lame game, but it surprised me.
When I got the first upgrade I really enjoyed it, and couldn t stop until the last one.

Just the final boss was way too hard, got to the second phase of the boss, but it felt impossible.
Is it possible to beat the game?

@maybe
The boss is quite possible. Some people have actually complained that it's too easy if you abuse health regen enough, but even without that it's very possible to beat.

Also, the boss isn't split into phases, it just has an attack pattern that loops over and over again. It'll start using those attacks regardless of whether or not you attack it.

Glad to hear you enjoyed the game!
