Intro:

Plug and shoot is a strategy game similar to the classic defend the castle games.

You have just started working at one of those rich person houses as a security manager. But unfortunately its a zombie apocalypse at the moment so you got a lot to do. You control four turrets with help of plugging and unplugging their power cords. There are only three power outlets so you have to manage which one to power at the same time. It gets harder and harder for every day that goes. Let us see how many days you will make it until you get fired.

Controls:

Mostly just mouse left click

Sometimes Keyboard (F, G, B, O, T, V, Q)

Info:

Normal zombie info.png

Common Zombie:

90 health 2 speed 15-35 $

baby zombie info.png

Baby Zombie:

50 health 8 speed 35-50 $

Giant Zombie info.png

Giant Zombie:

500 health 0.6 Speed 100-150 $

Upgrade info:

Bullet penetration: The bullet will penetrate one more common zombie and hit another behind it. The giant zombie takes three penetration levels and the baby need zero(the bullet will go thru it whatever level).

Bullet speed: The bullets speed. Hit targets faster. Every level will result in one more speed point(every bullet starts with 10).

Bullet dmg: The bullet will do 10 more dmg to the target. (Every bullet starts with doing 30 dmg)

Turret speed: The turret will shoot 0.1 second faster(The turrets starts with shooting every 1.5 seconds)

Tips from beta testers:

"Unplug the plugs as fast as possible"

"Penetration is OP so upgrade it"

"Look out for the Baby Zombies they are really fast"

The game is really good but when the outlets brake they are a bit bugged so you can't fix them all the time. And regular zombies seem a bit OP to the turret?

Really cool game! I liked that you had to press your keyboard to restore those power outlets. Really cool!

This was a pretty fun game! Good work! I just wished the difficulty curve was a little better. I died a lot in the very beginning just trying to figure out the strategy and such. This would be a really solid game if it just started out with an easier tutorializing section.

I love the idea and the execution is better than I thought it could be. I did accidentally drag a cable off the screen, but that didn't stop me too much. The retro feel is lovely and I had a lot of fun, thank you for making this!

Cool game, the introduction text is a bit long and slow though. Loved playing it because it became very hectic after the first day. Maybe add lifes or something, because you get fired after 1 hit, that is pretty fast.

well, pretty nice result, get your nice score, but it's not a good gamedesign I think, coz there are too many action for casual game)

play my game too! https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/42/pre-alpha-build

Pretty cool game, gets really hard quickly though, day 2 had me.
Also you can drag and drop the power cords outside of the screen, making them unattainable, resulting in unavoidable death.

Hej, hej! I like the concept very much. I wish the turrets had bigger color labels. When things get hectic, my cords get out of order. Also, I dropped the yellow cord off the screen and couldn't recover it somehow. I must have read the instructions poorly because I didn't understand how to fix the outlets at first, but I figured it out. I also wish the bullets would actually touch the zombies; when they disappear before impact and the zombie doesn't die immediately, I worry that the bullet doesn't have enough range. I respect this game. I would play it again after you have time to polish it.

Good job I like this game... killing zombies is always fun. It seems like very interesting mechanics you've come up with.

Keeping in mind that last phrase of protagonist's employer (when one looses the game) why can't he just build a wall

Yeah, btw, F, G, B, O, T, V, Q? Seriously? Where have good old QWERTY gone?

This was really refreshing and nice. It can get pretty stress full, but hey! horde of zombies is going towards you, there is a time for panic! :) Love it. You could perhaps work on the tutorial/main story a little as it is quite long and I didn't find out how to fasten the text being displayed. But that is just a minor thing. Really great job, had a lot of fun with it.

Good game!

Got some comments though:
- While the music wasn't a bad tune there was no feeling of pressure and just seemed to peaceful, it got a bit annoying for me

- The text did some weird rescaling when appearing in the text at the start and at the stage results

- The game was too easy. Sure you are not gonna start with a whole horde right from the start, but something more difficult would have been great. It just seemed like it dragged on for a while till day 8 or 9 that things started to get more challenging.

I am somewhere beyond level 16. Is there a final level to reach? Right now I maxed out turret speed and bullet damage. Bullet penetration is at 3.
But I don't see any benefit in increasing the bullet speed because each bullet in the field is a defence against a potential spawning zombie and the slower the bullet leaves the field the better for me especially with bullet penetration. For each upgrade in bullet speed I minimize the chance of a zombie spawning in the line before the bullet disappears, so I lessen my chance to do damage. Maybe this is the secret? :D
Another thing is that by the time you reach damage 6 you only need 1 bullet for a normal zombie and from there on it was pretty easy for me.
And if I constantly click on the plugs while in the outlet the outlet never fails. I don't know if this is intended.
Overall really fun game and well made. :)

Nice plug management game! Good interpretation of the theme! It works well. My only gripe would be that I would have liked the plugs to return to the bottom after it's socket becomes unuseable.

Great management game, could have done a lot with the borders though in my opinion. Was entertaining for a while but I would be lying if I didn't get a bit bored after a bit. Well done and good job. I think if you expand this then it could be big!

Hey, thank you for linking me the game! Overall, it's been a really fun experience. The only real thing that I had against the style was the font on the end game screen, maybe it could use some outline around it?

I liked the audio and the amount of work that went in to polish this game. Upgrade system with money really added to it. Seems like I have played a game like this before =-) The second wave a bit hard for me on a laptop. Also I could not repair and move my mouse at the same time. Something to think about for people that use laptops and their touch pad. Touch pad goes inactive while typing. Good job overall it was fun!

Thank you for submitting your game to my stream! I felt like I could have kept playing it for quite awhile as it was pretty addicting! I could definitely see this being expanded in a post game version. The plug system was pretty innovative and added a neat layer of strategy.

Really interesting concept, and well put together visually. Input kept breaking on me, cords wouldn't drag or enter the wall even after jamming the button a bunch of times. Solid work regardless.

Super cool game, I made it to day 18 before I had to stop. I got into a real good rhythm though, it worked well with my tactics. I would just plug in the required gun and wait for it to fire 2 shots then immediately unplug it. I didn't really need to fix the plugs at all once I had upgraded the bullet damage and turret speed.

It fits really well with the theme, and was satisfying to use the plugs, so overall great job!

Pretty fun game! While pretty hard at the beginning, once you rack up your upgrades it gets pretty damn easy. Got into wave 19 or something, and I already had all the upgrades maxed out, (except penetration) so I just quit there.

The music got a bit repetitive, but overall was good.

Good Job! :)

Awesome game. I really like the idea of having 4 power cords but only 3 sockets. Nice background story (but I didn't like the way the text appears in the begin screen). The first few tries, day 2 was already too hard for me... I liked the upgrade system, wish I could have seen more of it, but it was a bit tedious to start at day 1 every time (and wait till my shift was over). When I discovered that unplugging the power cords saved me a lot of key pressing, I got till day 6. Those baby zombies go veeeery fast. "AAAAH, Where is my green cable?"

Well done!

Cool concept! This takes the idea of games like plants vs. zombies and applies it to the running-out-space theme. More importantly, though, it was well executed. Nice graphics, fitting music, (seemingly) clean code. Nice work!

Pretty cool idea! I love tower/lane defense games and I like the mechanics in this one. The pixel art is also cool. If you could have added more mechanics / different towers with effects, it would be more awesome! pretty good game!

Pretty fun game, the art was pretty good and the audio got the job done, I like the way you used the theme "Running out of space" as running out of sockets, unique and a fun game!
