Escape the Big Rip by godsboss

[raw]
made by godsboss for LD 42 (COMPO)

The Universe will die in a Big Rip. Your only chance is to leave it. So you are running... out of space!

Whole game works with using the spacebar, nothing else.

EDIT: The green orbs around the ship represent your remaining 'space' key presses (they slowly regrow and you can gather powerups containing some).

Not much to go on here. Very simple game. The lack of any sound made the game feel empty. The gameplay wasn't much, but it looked nice.

Nice little game. Pressing space sometimes does not work though.

Short concept but well done. The pixel art looks so good, and I think that with a simple space music and a livebar (for example) the game would look so much bigger.

Nevertheless, Good work :)

I like the one button mechanic, the game is a bit easy tho.

As it is now, the game is lacking challenge. But the control scheme and the need to use a ressource to change direction is an interresting twist on runners.

Nice and chill one button game.

The biggest critic I have is that it lack challenge. It would be nice if it would speed up the higher score you got. Now I could more or less stop pressing space bar and just drift the space without dying. I will say that the graphics looked nice and if I played some chill music in the background, this was a very relaxing game for me.

Liked the graphics. I think the game should be much faster. And space bar does not work sometimes

Awesome pixel art, but I agree with the other comments, the lack of music and lack of challenge takes away from the entertainment of it. I also couldn't figure out if I was supposed to run into stars or avoid them.

the game could be much faster as others said, sound effects would also take it on another level!

Nice interpretation of the theme, the improvement I can see is that it could be faster paced.

Cool game! I like the simple controls and the art is wonderful! Music and sound would be an excellent addition, as it would add a whole new level of immersion and atmosphere to the game. Great work! :)

A good entry. Took me a while to get my head around the controls. I liked the sprite work though. Well done, keep at it!

aside from issues with space bar and some needed balancing for time and challenge, this is quite a nice idea. Single button entry and cool graphics. Nice work.

The graphics are nice but the game has no emotion .

Agree that it will be better with more speed, and that it's easy. Those two things would improve the game a lot. I noticed that the animation of a used resource plays twice, which is confusing because it seems to appear again as a new resource.

Liked the style and concept. Pacing a bit slow perhaps.

As said, the gameplay is very simple, but the animations are good and give the "feel" of a more complete game.

Nice parallax effect with the different layers and the start screen was done very well too :) Also the green and pink orbs were a cool way to show certain stats.

The game could use an increase in speed/difficulty over time, after a score of 10000 I stopped because it kept feeling the same.

Nicely done though ^^!
