Good job! I didn't see the sun at all during my playthrough.

@jushiip Thank you! I didn't make this very clear, but the earth is actually orbiting the sun. So unless you try to go towards the sun you are unlikely to ever see it.

I got lost in space because 'powersliding' through the abyss shooting at aliens was really fun. I got back to earth and held out for 77 days - which I assume is a terrible score - but I had a blast letting mankind fall to the aliens.

The sound did have a bit of 'cliking' to it like it was trying to play the same sound effect over and over in rapid succession or something - it's a minor gripe but I like to give everyone *something* to look at =)

Fun game though, nice smooth difficulty transition and uh... POWERSLIDING!

Really fun game !
The only thing I have to point out is when shooting the missiles don't always go well aligned with the current spaceship direction.

@Burgee Thank you! I noticed the sound glitching soon after the deadline and it seems related too the large amount of sounds effects playing at the same time. @drmargarido The missiles not firing "nicely" was supposed to be a feature. Unfortunately I seem to have confused some additions, subtractions, and a rotation or two giving semi-unpredictable missile firing.

I like seeing a depiction of space combat where navigation is tricky and velocity management is crucial. The "defend Earth" objective limits the player's ability to explore, but the combat mechanics and variety of enemies give the game a lot of depth. The graphics are effective, and the soundscape fits well. The physics take some getting used to, but combat is very satisfying once you get a handle on what's going on. Ramming into my own missile, not so much. Good work!

Fun game! I loved the different enemy types you had, it created varied combat. The ui could use some work, but great job overall!

I really found it difficult to play this game. I also missed a tutorial at the beginning of the game. I like the game style. I really love shoot games !! ^^

I like that you have to watch out for 'frienly fire' here, it gives a bit of extra tactical depth to the whole ship-health/earth-health/enemy-position gameplay.

Other than that I quite enjoyed the audio-effects, all nice, heavy, *bit-crushed* sounds, as is approriate to the mood of the game. :notes: :computer:

The ship felt a bit slow, but that might've been on purpose; creating the tension nescesary for the player to really feel like the last defender of the earth. I tried something similar (with the sounds as well) in the last LD (37) but players didn't seem to like it, a fair number complained about slow gameplay. It's a subtle/tricky thing to get right apearantly!

Anyway, I can imagine this could become quite addictive, if you add some nice (and surprising) powerups and/or different ship models!

Nice game - good mix of enemies and firing patterns, and I agree with others that the floaty controls contribute to the difficulty in a good way. I was a bit surprised when I passed through the earth rather than crashing into it though - missed opportunity :) I also found some of the enemies shooting themselves, apparently happens if I am approaching them too fast.

Neat little game! I included it in my Ludum Dare 38 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look :)
