Laws Of Attraction by SelfTitled

[raw]
made by SelfTitled for LD 40 (COMPO)

Gather charge and charge up the gate to escape the level, but be careful the more charge you have the more other particles will be attracted to you. Being hit by another particle will cause you to lose charge, lose all your charge and you will become another mindless particle doomed to float around the void forever.

## Controls

  • WASD to move around.
  • Space to collect and deliver charge.

## Software Used

  • Unity 2017.1
  • Paint.Net
  • Visual Studio

Really beautiful looking game. The glow and gate charge effects are really well done and you have chosen colours well. I think a small improvement would just be a level counter so I know how far i've gotten. Great stuff though :) See you next jam!

Nice looking game. The concept and the use of the theme is really good. I loved the bounce effect but sometimes it is counter intuitive, donno if bug or as intended. Other than that: Good Job!

Beautiful game. The theme, the way the glow works, everything is perfectly blended in. Really great game :D

It would be nice to have more different mechanics than have levels with essentially the same challenge of avoiding particles. Overall it's pretty good.

Like quixatocs said it's a beautiful game, the effect are very nice, Game design is nice too with lot of potential on the Level design, he caught me over almost one hour.
the major criticism that I noticed is that it lacks a tutorial or a description of your game, so that we can understand instantly your concept.

Very nice game. The theme was nicely interpreted although I think your game is more about "the less you have, the better it is". There is so much levels that I didn't even have time to finish the game. Maybe there is some awesome ending, I missed. Good job, keep on doing great games!

I like the minimalist graphics. Dodging the discharged balls is pretty satisfying as well :)

Good job!

Looks good, and the gameplay was pretty entertaining for a while. The first handful of levels were too easy, but once it got harder it also go funner. Good job

Pros:
The curve of difficulty is well done, good flow. First level was good to get a feel of the mechanics to get started. Had fun playing it through. The light looks great.

Cons:
Its a little bit confusing how the attraction works. Felt a little random.

Ideas: Sound of Neon Lights or any electric noise as a ambient soundeffect. And maybe also a audio feedback sound when the enemy particles hit the walls.

I love the aestetics of your game! The gameplay is a simple yet powerful idea that fits the theme well. Good job! And you managed to make many levels with well balanced difficulty!

Well done! The trade-off between charging gates quickly and having enough energy to survive is quite interesting. The particles look really nice.

I can see this being turned into a fun mobile game! Some of my thoughts:

- I'm not sure about how the scenario looks. It doesn't look bad, but somehow I think it's a bit off. Maybe you may try to give it of glow, too? Or maybe it could be somehow more minimalist?
- I also think that the levels should not be randomized (particles seem to start in a random state each time). That way, the game will be a bit more "puzzle" (unless you actually want a quick action game :P).

Good luck!

Looks nice, perhaps the controls could be a bit more tangible or have a counter effect key, dont really know.

Took me 45 minutes to beat the game. I think it's impressive that you can make a game in < 48 hours, that takes the user almost an hour to beat. Some of those levels were grueling especially towards the end. I actually didn't realize until halfway through that you no longer attract the orange particles when you are drained of energy. It clicked when I thought "I'm one of them now" pretending I was a spy among the orange particles was fun. Great job!

I have played this game for about an hour! Really love the minimalist vibe combined with great mechanics! Also the way you can blend in when low energy but become a target when full energy! I was really impressed with this! Awesome job!
