Missing Space by Marcel Oyuela-Bonzani

made by Marcel Oyuela-Bonzani for LD 42 (JAM)

My first Ludum Dare entry.

The Void Eaters are coming! Pilot the MOSAIC-SHIP and last as long as you can against an infinite threat. MOSIAC-SHIP shoots void bullets- if they hit the void on the edges of your world, the void expands! Be sure to aim carefully cadet!

Known Bugs:
Hangup when gameover is it.
Can spin out of the void if you get stuck in it.

Help, the walls ate me! :) I like the concept, but the ship was too sluggish so by the time I could see one of the enemies coming my way there was no way to stop in time and go another way.

Interesting game with a lot of potential! Here's a bullet list of things I would change/add:
- Make it so the player dies when the void consumes them, instead of getting stuck.
- Make the enemy and player health visible.
- Make the enemies have less health, but make more of them.
- Add screenshake and other effects to make the shooting feel better!
- Add randomness to the angle of the enemies (that updates every second or so), that way they won't clump together and it will look more interesting!

I'd love to see this get expanded on!

Cool concept and it gets pretty hard very fast. The movement is a bit counter-intuitive as you should expect that pressing W would move the ship in the direction it is facing.

I really like the idea of the player being the one who causes the space to be running out making you must adapt to whatever happens. The art and music are pretty decent. The movement fells sluggish but I guess that is how a real rocket would move so no big problem there. Great job with this one.

It's an interesting idea, with more work it could be something really fun. Things you should add:
-Die as soon as the void touches you
-Make before the void spawns a block then it would be cool to have some sort of warning block before so you can go away from the void.

Honestly, it is extremely fun and unique, if you make the game restart once you get stuck in the black things, it could be a paid game. I really like the idea that it is you that makes space smaller, kinda similar to my game :yum:

Very intresting game! Very good! Only problem is that the enemies start inside of the walls sometimes.

Need some polish - movement is sluggish and glitchy. Overall good game!

Pretty smooth - fun graphics for the ship and void guys. I am not a fan of the awsd controls with mouse pointing the ship - personal preference is w = thrust, ad rotate and so on. In any case, got used to controls well enough. Got stuck as did others a few times but could get out of it most of the time. True to the theme. Neat little music score.
