Evil Lab: the Profane Enlightenment by kazuo256

Science may go wrong sometimes.

DISCLAIMER: this is a horror game. There are shocking scenes, like gore.

PATCH 1.0.3:

  • Monster balancing. We tested the game with 10x the speed, and ended up messing up some speed values when coverting them back to normal before launching. Everything is back to normal speed now.
  • In-game texts review. These were the very last thing we added and, in the last-minute rush, had many oversights. We rephrased some and added a few missing ones.
  • Soundtrack tweaks. Also one of the last added, some BGM tracks ended up with mismatched timings. All fixed now.
  • Minor incongruences. Some numbers were not adding up, but ultimately did not impact gameplay.

Man that creature freaked me out. I can't figure out how to get past it in the room with the power cells. I have power on me but my lantern just gets dimmer and dimmer.

@connor-hagan Monsters are scared of light. But indeed you can't go past them, you need to avoid them. Also, you need to recharge your power bank and reload your lamp with the space bar.

@Fritz thanks for the advice, somehow I was pressing the wrong button the whole time. I really love your art style, you nailed the horror vibe.

I played with headphones and had a spooky time. The sound and mood sell this game so well! However, some of the mechanics were a little confusing and clunky to interact with at first. I didn't understand what the percentage on screen was at first, so maybe a little clearer example or explanation of your power bank vs. your light power. But with just a bit of tweaking and time, this could be a phenominal scary little game! Great job, thanks for building this for the jam!

I found the door with all of the scratches. I could not figure out how to get the elevator going. I had a good time though. It was neat to see your console which runs with your game. I can see all of your logs. When I try to use the elevator it says "yo" and it sometimes prints out 10. I like the graphics it reminds me of an adventure game. The audio really pulls it all together and brings in a lot of moodiness. Its quite mysterious with the moving of power here and there. I made a lot of progress but I could not solve it. Cool use of the theme :)

That is really scary. I've played it twice, first I encounter the creature, awful. The next time, something killed me in the dark just right after I turned off the flashlight. The atmosphere is great, sound too. Only thing, I dont know what should I do. Why there is a charge cell, where is the metal door lock, I'm just confused a scared to play it again :D

This game is kind ominous and scary, it has a horror vibe that I really like, the art and the sounds are pretty good too, high quality work, the gameplay is a bit confusing but I figured out after some time, it is a smart game, a great team effort, great game.

*Btw sempre legal ver um jogo que tem BR no meio hehe =p

Love the mood, the sounds effects, the theme. But I found it very hard to grasp what was supposed to be done, and where to go. It isn't very clear. I 've stayed a lot of time with the lights on until eventually I had no power left. Even had to take out the power that I put in the power cell. But overall the game looks and feels great.
