A Small World Cup is my game for the jam.

Made in almost two days using Construct2.

Compete in a super funny nonsense football world cup 1vs1 challenge!

Drag anywhere on the screen to give your player a trajectory! hit the ball! score some goals!testaGol.gif

This was a fun, silly game! The physics make the game feel great, and nothing feels very "off". At one point, it seemed like I was in the middle of a match when it declared the winner, although maybe I just missed something. The AI wasn't the smartest, but that didn't matter when playing. Usually, the player's own stupidity and the interesting physics make the game feel challenging, while not "unfair". I thoroughly enjoyed this game! Great job!

I didn't know what to expect. The game went well above everything I could have expected. If this game gets arrow and WASD support, I'd love to play it with friends.

Really neat idea! I love the aesthetic you went with. The ragdoll physics work perfectly with the style.

I think the game would benefited a lot from some "retro" sound effects, but perhaps you didn't have time. This could be fun to play multiplayer, although you might have to implement some kind of recharge mechanic to avoid players "spamming" shots.

reminded me of soccer physics but with more control. is this for 2 players or 1 v cpu only? great game.

This is way too awesome, I love it! Really simple concept, but brilliantly made.
Some sound would have been cool. Great job, so much wacky fun.

Well, this was the weirdest pixel art i've ever encountered. I think, it would look better without the pixeling filter.

But, the game was quite fun and I really enjoyed the mechanics. also, a good idea

I love this game! Little but great! Add a bit of sound/music and maybe add other sports (volleyball, basket, boxe) and it will be perfect! Must have: online multiplayer!

Wow so fun and I love the graphics! I am really interested in how you did the AI for the CPU players they see like they really know what they are doing. The only thing that would have made this better would be some sound. FANTASTIC JOB!

Nice game! That's the most funny game that I played so far. I like the different possibilities to score goal. You've never known how would it go. I like the controls. I think changing them will change the game. I like to aim in direction and not be sure about the outcome. It would be nice to have some background music and some sound effects. Overall well done!!

It's a really fun game. Reminds me of soccer physics. I like the graphics and random action. The colors feel a bit dull. The computer player did some funny things and the game generally produces absurdly comical situations. I did not play it on mobile. Is there any sound?

Lmao, LOVED the game. This + sounds & multiplayer would be awesome. (it's practically a 2d rocket league, we know, but you did an amazing job!)

This game is so much fun, like a mini rocket league. Interesting take on the theme as well. I kept playing till I got to match day 8 and then it stopped. I'll imagine I won a small cup. Played it again and the bug only occurs if you play as Brazil.

Haha a simple fun game :)
Too bad there are no sounds, with some sounds effect, a simple music and a multiplayer mode it would be a really good and fun game :)

You have a concept to do a very good game for phone/tablet !

Excellent -- A lot of fun to play. Reminds me of SportsFriends. This could actually be a lot of fun playing multiplayer against your friends. My only real criticism is the lack of any audio -- good music/sfx really add a lot to a game. Congrats on making such fun game :)

ROFL!! QWOP meets Soccer (Football to the rest of the world), I LOVE IT!

I am totally speechless, this game was amazingly fun to play! I wish there was audio and incidentally you might want to opt out of it so your not judged on it.

It took me a bit to get used to dragging as I'm using a mouse but once I did oh boy did I have fun and laugh myself silly! What an amazing game for 48 hours of work. Well done!

Hey, great game! I played the non-mobile version.

The art style was fascinating and worked very well. Animation and UI were impressive. Mechanics worked great, and I enjoyed the sports tie-in. I didn't notice any significant errors, even in the very cool physics.

Two things I thought limited the fun of this entry. The first was the control scheme. Mouse dragging was an innovative mechanic but very hard to control in real time. Secondly, I felt like the difficulty could be scaled better. All teams seemed to have the same AI and all were objectively much better than I was, which limited my sense of achievement.

Overall a lot of fun and very high quality for a compo entry.

The lack of sound never bothered me. Best game I have played so far. Great twist on the theme and marvelous graphics style. Best of this game is not going for the ball, but for the opponent :-p I won myself a little worldcup, hope you win something too.

Awesome! The dot interpolation was a cool aesthetic. The game has no sound whatsoever which is a bummer, gameplay is good but I'm always taken from the action when it starts getting good, and the goal screen is lasting too long. I don't like the constant menu pauses, if there was some sound I guess that would've been more bearable. Overall, I had so much fun from it but it has it's own downfalls and shortcomings.

Great scope for a jam game. The idea is simple and the graphics are nice. I had fun with this one. The only thing really needed is some sound effects.

Guau! Love the game! xDDD It was one of the funniest game so far I've played in this ludum xD With music this game could be really amazing! And if you could do some type of multiplayer (even local)... you have conquered this ludum xDDD

Really really great work!!!

Was surprised how well the pixel grid effect suited this. Had a lot of fun playing with the ragdolls and scoring a few goals. Some added overall challenge and even a simple soundtrack would have made this that much better.

The gameplay was good fun, though there were far more own goals than goals!
I wasn't a big fan of the pixellation filter, it garbles the text and makes everything look a little muddy.

Overall a fun, simple game that controls well and has some serious joy moments. The difficulty comes from the physics rather than the AI being strong!

Amzaing interpretation of the theme. Just adding one word to the end change the theme completely.

Wow, I love this game! It's so much fun -- I've played it for several hours over the past couple days. The AI difficulty is right on point. It took me well over an hour to win the cup the first time, but now I've pretty much mastered it, which is very satisfying.

The pixel filter effect gives the game a unique look that I like. The only downside is that the text gets a little blurry. Also, the slow motion is really nice.

I would love to see a networked multiplayer version of this!

It's a very enjoyable little game. It took a while to work work out a strategy (I lost a couple of matches scoring zero goals), but now I can play pretty spectacular and aggressive-looking matches. The visuals are cool, I like the slowdown effect (you can shorten it to emphasize the fast-paced gameplay). Good job!

Hello fellow Construct dev! I absolute love what you've done here, I played it for ages. It's similar to a prototype I have, so at least I know it's possible now  (mine is not football and is nowhere near as good as yours, it's a little battle simulator).

I know the pixel grid will probably divide people, but I really like it. The slow-mo was perfect, it was great seeing your guy flailing into the sky after you'd just scored. I think the AI feels like it knows what's going on, which is impressive, although it's perhaps a little too hard in the first few games.

Overall a great jam game, top marks in fun and humour, congrats

Super fun and amusing game! It would be great if I could click past the 'GOAL' text and get straight back into the game. I would also love to see multiplayer and sound effects in future versions (if you plan on that)!

Great job!

Hah, this was a ton of fun. Alas, Italy beat me in the fourth match. (Well, _I_ beat me in that match, there were three own goals. D'oh!)

Visually it looks great, but I am pretty sad it lacks audio altogether. That could've really made this a contender for my favorite games.

I Played this in Stream Today at Request of the Developer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ekGMbpHGKUE

I SO BADLY WANT OBNOXIOUS ANNOUNCER VOICES!

Very well done, I enjoyed this a lot. Great graphics and fun score! My one complaint was the Framerate had a lot of issues, it seemed to dip down very low for a lot of the game.

Hi there, very fun and addicting game you made. I feel like the pixel shader thing you have is, uh, very very close to deepnight's effect that he uses in all his games, so I just kinda ignored that (http://deepnight.net/). I like the input method of shooting your player, made it very fun. Nice entry.

Holy hell, this is freakin' hilarious :D

Spot on, the only thing I'm missing here is audio - some fitting announcers would be the cherry on top. Either totally random, or blase as hell. Just something to add eben more humour to this.

I absolutely love how the ragdoll mechanic makes the players look like 'meh, whatever'. Oh, I'm in the air? Now i did a faceplant, who cares. Straight up spat out my coffee (yes, it's 11pm here and I drink coffe, don't judge), I'm not even kidding.

What's best, it would already be a great game to release on mobile even in this state. I haven't had any issues, so I can't really give you any constructive criticism - You chose a simple mechanic, and it just works *so* well.

I was going to say something about the pixel shader, because it's not an exact pixelation - but it looks good, and reminds me of the huge displays, so it actually buys in into the football theme.

Great job. Please, pretty please, try to add the announcers :D

Cheers, and stay awesome!

Haha, excellent! Gameplay is hilarious, it also offers "mastery" feel good stuf, when learning how to score fast goals with the head. I didn't have sound in the web, don't know if it was intentional. I had an intense world cup, beating brazil 5 to 4 in after time. Great fun, of all LD entries i played i had the most fun here.

This is great fun!...and very funny!

It's a shame there is no audio - it would have been great to just hear you screaming "GOOOOOOOOOAL!!!!" every now and then...but I am sure you cad add all that later!

There's really not much else to say, except...

EN-GU-LUND!...

I'm a sucker for ragdolls and everything silly, so I can't help but really like this game! Such a simple and fun concept, it really works amazingly well! I'm also glad that you already made a phone/tablet version, I think that this game could really work great as a mobile game! Some kind of multiplayer might also be a good idea, but I can't think of how it could be implemented at the moment :P The graphics were also working in your favor, it didn't need to be anything more complex than that and it really supported your game! I would love it if there was some audio and silly music in the background, but I understand that in a compo these stuff are kind of a luxury. What's important is that you have a great and fun game. Great job! :D
