Pick&Build by Aun
Here is my submission for Ludum Dare 34 !
It was as fun to do. I wanted to use the two themes. I started with the ideas of two buttons which can control different things in different context. Here, the left and right arrow are used to move left and right, to move a sword or to send back a power ball to an enemy. Next, I wanted my game to grow. I thought that it would be interesting to get items which improve the game. Then, you start the game with nothing but hitbox-like, with few information to recognize what the object is and the more items you get, the better the game is.
I did the game with Game Maker, Promotion and SFXR. It was my first game with Game Maker, I did the previous Ludum Dare with libgdx. Game maker is simpler :)
The goal is simple : collect elements of the game to build it and kill all your enemies.
Controls :
Left and right array.
For the boss, you can send him back his power balls. Just load the power of your shield with left arrow and press right arrow when the ball touches the shield.
What can come next ?
More levels can be added. I first of all wanted to do some kind of proof of concept.
Enjoy ;)

It is strange, it works for me. What navigator are you using ? Do yuo have any error in the javascript console ? Otherwise, you can try the windows exe.

Interesting game- I like the main concept, your world changes as you progress. I got to the third "stage" however, and couldn't beat it- maybe the buttons weren't working, maybe it was my own fault. I don't know. Either way, good job on this!

Yeah, nice concept, got excited to see what's going to happen on and on, but level 3 with LOAD and BOUNCE does nothing. That enemy orb just kills you over and over

Good work on the 2 button theme. I like the whole aesthetics, with the combination of FM-music and the 16-color graphics, which reminds so much of playing Warlords I with friends in a hot seat back in the 90s :) It was a bit tough restarting when you died so some save-points would be good!

The concept is very interesting. But it seems like level 3 does not work. But great job making this in the 48 hours!

I like the way the gameplay change while progressing. Didn't find how to defeat the boss, but good job. :)

Interesting, really. And pleasant. I won't say anything that haven't been said, so here is a little trick for those that haven't reached the end. You need to maintain the left arrow pressed and when the energy ball reaches you, hit the right arrow with the left one still activated. If you time it well, you have like a 50% chance to win (it is still a too short timing). And in around three hits, the boss dies. See you in the treasure cave !
