Charged Up by reecer9714
Protect and Charge the Power Core.
Energy is what powers you and your weapon.
Controls * Left Click - Electric Shock * Right Click - Bomb * E - Charge Core * ESC - Exit to Menu
Edit to Game: Accidentally left in debug amount of needed energy to Power Core. Now takes more than one charge to win.

1. Fill power up before extending the bar - this just seems like a bug to me, but if you are low on power and collect some more, it should fill the bar up before extending it further
2. I think you should make it so that the robot's bullets cannot be destroyed by your electric gun. Since they can be, it makes the game pretty trivial to just stay in the middle and wait until enemies come
3. Increase the spawn rate a little bit, seemed I was waiting around a while
4. Add collision detection to the edges of the map, just a little polish to prevent players from going off screen
Nice job!
I like the concept of the combined health/ammo-system, but I feel like there are just too few enemies spawning. A lot of the time I was running around without anything happening. And then something spawned on the other side of the map and I couldn't get to the middle quickly enough.
Overall pretty nice entry.
I liked the ability to "fly" ;-)
The weapon felt really satisfying to fire, and destroying enemies with it was a lot of fun. My favourite thing about this game has to be the dog enemies -- their running animation was really smooth and nice to look at.
Some of the graphics seemed a bit odd, like the core having strangely smooth, un-pixelated lines, but other than that I don't really have anything to complain about!
Keep up the good work, I look forward to seeing what you make next!
Cool game :) At first it might seem like a classic "protect it" kind of game but the extra "charging the core" mechanic makes it quite original indeed. The idea itself is very good and I have nothing to say about it, but I have a few suggestions about the executions, should you want to keep working on it ;)
- Work on audio. Audio might seem unimportant because it's just for the ears, but audio is very important for a game's responsiveness and general feel. Enemies should make a noise when spawning, taking damage, attacking... I know you had limited time for the LD, which is why I'd say the sounds are pretty cool for a LD entry ;)
- I had a low framerate (about 20 - 30 I'd say), which made the game feel unsmooth. Not so bad here because it's not very fast paced, but it could use some looking into.
Overall, a very good submission, I liked it a lot. It fits the theme greatly. Good job !
Feel free to check our game out : https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/39/berzerk-hunt
We could use the criticism too ! :D
A little bit of music would have been good, as the others have already mentioned. I'm not sure if you want to make it more clear, but I didn't realize there was a charging mechanic until I read this page a bit more closely. I guess I should read the page ahead of time, but it might be good to have some in-game queues for that mechanic as well.
Finally, I just wanted to say I greatly enjoyed the experience of shooting lightning at armies of dogs. Thanks for that.
