Dipsomaniac by Junber

"Dipsomaniac" is sidescroller about bar crawling and getting completely and utterly wasted in the process.
The story includes deep themes of escapism, alcoholism (not really though) and very badly implemented pop-culture references. As the player you interact with countless barkeepers with the sole intention of getting drunk and not having to attend the birthday of another wrinkly relative that tends to poke your cheeks a bit too harshly every time she sees you (yes even now that you are an adult. Terrible, am I right?). The more alcohol you drink the worse it gets (see what I did there?) and controlling your character becomes harder progressively. Who knows? You may even begin to hallucinate. Some drinks will make you drunk faster than others. Just apply some common sense to figure out what drink has more alcohol than the other one (or if common sense doesn't help because you don't know how much you drink of each individual beverage, you can browse the game files to find the exact amount of alc-points... if that's what you are into).
Drinking actual alcohol while playing the game is strongly advised. To make it more immersive of course. Not to distract you from possible flaws in the writing and the game itself. Please drink responsibly and respect the legal drinking age in your country.
That about sums it up...
Thank you for your attention, we hope you will enjoy playing "Dipsomaniac".

Very entertaining game, it was a blast! Some of the drink options aren't quite as clear cut as you'd think, evidently the work of a connoisseur. I simply assumed Peter drank a pint of everything, because who has the time for shots?
Cool idea for a game though, I didn't drink along but I liked the music and the art, the walking animation was particularly good, nice :)
What I could recommend for this game is to maybe make the player invulnerable when he bumps into something, because sometimes I get unlucky and hit multiple things consecutively.
Otherwise great job!

:(
graphics and graphics effects are really cool!
but more the game become "worse", more the walk part become boring (soo slooow...), that's a strange difficulty curve...
Nice sounds anyway.
Very great game, but at first it starts up so slowly. I almost abandoned the game with „ah, and that goes on for infinity”, when I noticed that some progress happened that hooked me in to continue playing to the end. I won!
I'm happy tho hear that. I can officialy say that you probably not only won that game but also life. I wish more people actually made this step. Congratulations. I merely hope you will remember our game tomorrow morning.
@megabrutal
Yes it certainly had a slow start. Especially if you actively go for the "less alcoholic drinks" (or if RNG just is a mean guy as allways). I assume with "Diesel" you mean alcohol. That's good to hear. Not that we encourage drinking in any way... I mean. Maybe we do but that's not the point, right?
Oh boy... well uh, thanks for trying out our game and giving it the time it needs to actually get to the point where the "progress" happens (in the game as well as in your body if you were drinking).

I've never been drunk in real life. This game conveys the feeling of being drunk so well that I felt like I myself was drunk. The visualaudio effects and messed up controls did great job. The BGM as well.
Walking on the street with this atmosphere really gave me the feeling that just functioning as a normal human is so hard and tiring and thus escapism was well communicated through the experience. I understand some other people's comment about the game being too slow-paced but I believe if you really play the game while actually drinking you wouldn't feel this way.
I'm not a native English speaker so I don't quite get most of the pop-culture references unfortunately.
Overall, great entry. 5 points for mood!
libpng warning: iCCP: known incorrect sRGB profile, really like the graphic and atmosphere you created. Guess I am not a drink! lol
Pressing any key should fix the problem (or maybe just E). So you can go to the next bar. And the bar after that. To eventually make you a drink :)
Or maybe not. But the warning shouldnt be a problem.

Disclosure first: I don't drink (never liked the taste). After a few minutes of playing, I respected the game enough to at least get a mineral water from the fridge. Sipped that instead, and I don't like it either, but the experience was well worth it.
I've played a lot of games on this jam, and this is one of my top favorites so far. Awesome pixel art, funny references, a melancholic tune, and simple-yet-effective mechanics. The game as its own was not outstanding _until_ the later part, in which it became just amazing.
The drunk state simulation is among the best I've seen, which is usually just a blurry screen. I like how the thing starts to gradually go more and more bizarre, even to the point where getting to the final bar became a real challenge. In other games, changing the controllers is an annoying experience, but here, it was actually so fitting that it felt just great.
This was an incredible jam experience. [In behalf of my team](twitter.com/whalesandgames), congratulations on making one of the most interesting games in the jam. Cheers! :whale:
