Last Girl On Earth by Reality Blind
A game about love and blood β₯οΈ

It's our second Ludum Dare and we are proud to present you "Last Girl On Earth" !
Our Belgian Team π»
- ποΈ Quentin Cloos : graphics, animations
- π§ Alexandre Meunier : music, sound design, development
For the theme, we mixed a "Tamagotchi like" with a top down shooter !
π Story (kind of)
One day, the world woke up with a huge problem : all the girls disappeared except one. No luck for you, it's your girlfriend.
So you did what a sane boyfriend would do in that case : you found a tank and decided to protect the one you love.
Face waves of guys, and give your girlfriend the presents she asks you by clicking on them !

π Known bugs, hidden in corners waiting for their doom :
- It seems that using "F" for fullscreen too many times can freeze the computer ! Beware ! (Thanks GameMaker btw)
βοΈ Bugs that we proudly destroyed by stomping them :
- The girl stopped asking presents if you stayed too long on the "Wave Complete" screen
- Presents give slightly more love when picked up
- The endless and boring wave loop cycling through time but not space that could occur should rest in peace now
- No more floating arrows above invisible objects
- The game icon did not appeared in the task bar due to fullscreen issues
- The game can now be played properly in windowed mode
π Hidden secrets that no one will ever find
- You can press "R" to restart the game
- You can press "F" to enter fullscreen
- You can press "Escape" to exit the game
- The game is played with only a mouse, and a finger to press on it, or just a finger if you play on mobile, by pressing too by the way
- I think that's all you can press in our game
Have fun and remember : if you love someone, buy a tank, we never know.

It was fun a bit tricky but still fun.
Very funny game. Loved it.
But what I don't understand is that when I get to the 2nd wave she isn't showing me what she wants. So I simply lost, but still a pretty good game overall.
Being the only one girl on Earth makes her picky I guess π
Thanks a lot π
We had tons of work as this time we were only 2 instead of 3, but we're really happy with how it turned out !
I will add a "F" shortcut to toggle fullscreen. Have you tried "Alt + Enter" ? Anyway thanks for the feedback π
@zak-zeddam-zakaria
Thanks, glad you liked it !
@Flatterp
Yep, that could be a good idea ! Having her sitting all day is quite sad when you think about it π
It certainly could be more balanced too, but meh, you know, time is short on a Ludum Dare π
And yeah, flaming cats rule π₯
Cute graphics, fantastic sound effects (I love that meow), using a TANK to defend the girl is absolutely realistic. I would do the same.
The only thing to complain: It seems there is no ending. Although I gave her everything she wanted, the heart could never be filled completely.
It will never be real love? FeelsBadMan
I totally agree with you, it needs further tweaking to really have a goal, we didn't really tested it on a long term run.
@pestodesign
π° - What you want as a result on the first day
π - What you got 10 minutes before the last hour
Sorry for the hitting issues you encountered, it wasn't the case before you'd always hit the guys, thanks for pointing it out I'm going to switch it back to what it was, working when tired is not a good idea :)
Thanks to you I fixed something I missed on my last build, so don't apologize you've been helpful even if you have not tested the game π
The aesthetic and audio work perfectly and are impressively coherent for a jam game. The feedback for everything is sublime and works lovely to ensure the player knows whats happening at all times.
The core loop works lovely, i loved that when i was waiting for the correct item to come out i still had things to do and balance my time with.
My only piece of feedback really would be that i played until round 7 and felt like there wasnt an increase in friction. Itd also be great to see a scoring method working along side the waves to measure performance vs progress.
Absolutely great game, you should be super proud of the achievement of making it in a jam environment!

We did not had time to better tweak the waves sadly, but we will work on a post LD version to make it a balanced and progressive game π

Tiny. Must be the remoting- maybe a dx issue? I will jump on the Win box and see all the pixels!!!
I'm going to fix display issues today, hopefully it will solve all your problems ! π
#### EDIT : it's fixed now, it will launch at 5 times the original resolution (256 * 144), and you can press F to enter fullscreen π
I've been meaning to try out Last Girl On Earth for a while since the visuals are so lovely and this is a great excuse ^_^ The graphics and sound effects all gave it a very polished feel and made me genuinely care about the characters enough to push through! (Despite my bad game abilities haha) I definitely want to play more after work and see if I can beat it!
What I loved
* Cuuuute game
* The sprites and the sound effects made the whole thing fit together really nice!
* Nice polish & feedback within the game
My thoughts
* Please make a post jam of this game!
* Wave progression could use a little more tweaking (for that post jam :wink: )
Like I said, Iβd love for you to review my submission as well.

## EDIT: BELGIAN TEAM??? LET'S COLLAB FOR NEXT 1?
@croewens
We will totally work on a post LD version !
Where are you from ? We live in Liège ^^
@those-30-ninjas I totally will check !
@Chikoness
We always put the priority on feedbacks and simple mechanics, I'm glad to see that people actually enjoy it that way π
I like the idea of sabotaging other suitors and using their gifts to satisfy your girlfriend. It's brutally fun and amusing.
About the gameplay, it plays really well. The idea of the items (the flower, balloon and the cat) all differing with each other in terms of remaining in the field was a really good move. I survived until Wave 11 and enjoyed playing it.
Overall, it's a really enjoyable game! Really great entry!
Great game overall ! I like the artstyle a lot, it's very clean and the pixelart is great. The game itself is fun, just a bit repetitive after a while. But I like the idea a lot ! Good job !
If I had yo point something out would be the "love gain" you get from picking up what your girlfriend wants, feels a bit low but anyway I made it all the way to wave 3 and I have no plans to remove the game from my cellphone :)
We didn't had time to balance correctly the waves, that's my nΒ°1 priority for our post LD build (which I will build from scratch to remove all the junk code that ended up being not used)
@velocity7 Thanks for your enthusiasm π
@jsd Thanks a lot, I just tried your game and was about to write my review π I will buff the presents for the future version !
I like the concept - it's proof the life, I have a lot of fun, their vocies are very humoristical. Thank you for my rising mood which already lost in the sky XD
I had no time to tweak the waves sadly (we submitted 4 minutes before the end of the extra submission hour x) ), but I now have a new script that will be included in a post LD version that will make it fair, challenging and progressive π
1) When Items overlaps player pickup the top layer item. Should player pickup needed item? Maybe?
2) Mouse cursor always lose focus when I trying pick up items close to edges... Game needs some technology to fix the cursor inside window (for desktop of course)
1) Interesting idea, I will see what I can do with it ^^ (I agree, it can be frustrating when it happens, depending on how low the love bar is)
2) You mean with two displays ? All my tests were ran on a single monitor, bad idea π
Thanks for pointing it out, I'm working on it
Edit : Done π
Really nice job, congratulations!
I left my rating of your game, if you can leave your feedback in our game, Witch's Escape.
I hope you continue with the project.
