Coolest art style I've seen this jam, would be interested in how you managed to do it. Gameplay wise it was fun enough, though it was a bit awkward to have to move in the direction I wanted to throw the spear

Thanks, @justinsix! We used projectors to do the 2D parts, if that's what you're asking about.
Directional shooting seemed the most intuitive, though I agree that it's cumbersome regardless. In hindsight, aiming with a mouse may have been better.
Thanks for playing and for your feedback!

The game look beautiful, and the idea is really cool. That said, the spear throwing did feel a little too cumbersome, and I couldn't see any relevance to the theme. An interesting game nonetheless.

@doey Thanks for the feedback!
The theme is not obvious as it's hidden in the story.
Basically, the village is running out of space so you need to venture forth and find a new home with more space.

Great job and a truly unique graphical style! Really using the unity lighting system for what it's good for, and making good use of a really under-utilized piece of Unity's tech tree always earns bonus points in my book. The style reminded me somewhat of the Maui tattoos in Moana, and if you could nail animation fluidity, you have the core here for something really fascinating.

I always try and leave useful feedback, which is harder with this entry because it's very solid. I think the either the gameplay or puzzles (Or both) could have used a few more bits to give the player additional chances for mastery. After I killed the first rabbit and figured out the branches/leaves were destroyable I had basically mastered those gameplay elements.

Anyway, a great LD entry to be proud of for sure!

Very nice solid game. It looks nice and feels good to play. I'm not sure where the theme fits in though

Reminds me of a game with similar art style, The Mamoth. Sprites were moving pretty slow playing in the browser. Would love to see more of this

Really liked the art style!! I had a similar idea with mine, except with ancient egyptian wall paintings instead of cave drawings (playing as a character that looks as if it's on an ancient egyptian drawing). Of course your game looks much more amazing and less amateurish than mine :)

Anyway, the game itself was really fun!! I would totally want to keep playing if it had more levels and additional challenges. The wolves at the end were pretty scary :)

Aaah, I don't think I can run this game properly in my browser, the CPU usage was shooting up way too high and it lagged too much. My machine is probably not powerful enough, sigh.

Super cool idea and the execution is very good as well. I would've liked to shoot with the mouse and maybe outrun enemies, but it was still fun to play. The game could have been a bit longer, but then it maybe would have gotten boring. Great game!

Hi nice game! The graphical style is very cool. And the sound really adds to that. The gameplay however was lacking in my opinion, the character moved very slow both in browser and the .exe file (although this could be because of my laptop) and I also didn't rally feel a goal except killing some enemies and this made it not very fun in my opinion. I do think you can make a great game out of this because I can imagine a lot of your time went into the graphics. If the movement was a bit faster and the enemies a bit harder this would be really fun. I really felt like I was playing out a caveman story.

Ahh! Sorry @pranjalbisht it seems that it's not well optimized since I developed on a pretty powerful device. Thanks for letting me know, though!

Yeah @jorbits I didn't even think of using the mouse when making the game. Good idea. And the game length was really just limited by how much I could get done in two days.

Thanks for the feedback @shakedimus it seems like you're a victim of the non-optimized nature of the game as well. I added the Windows build after, hoping it would run better, but I guess not. Sorry but thanks for the feedback!

Well, it was an interesting short experience. I think it would even be cooler if you also put some animation of our hero's journey at each stone that the painting passes.

@vekstr Hey I like that! Though definitely beyond the scope of the 2 days we had

Nice game! I love the visual style, concept and sound FX.

Maybe you could make some optimisation to make it less power consuming, but generally those are not things you have time to do during a jam.

@lndrstrll Thanks!
I would have done some more optimization if I knew it was a problem during the jam - but alas, my computer is too beefy haha

nice entry! The graphics are really cool. I especially liked how you rendred those leaves, they are like real :smiley:

also nice idea to include the theme in the narrative. Although I'd argue that the genre is more exploration than adventure. Anyway good job.

Wow! I like it a lot. Great graphics and aesthetic. Sound effects were complimenting. The whole experience was new and refreshing. Great work :)

Things that need a little help: character animation was too minimal I think, The movement was too slow that my fingers actually hurt from the strain of pressing the keyboard buttons so this needs to be fixed :)

Congratulations!

Amazing art, very interesting idea! One thing I'd change would be aiming the spear with mouse maybe? That way it'd be possible to 'shoot' while running away... One of the most impressive games I played this ludum, kudos!

Really nice idea. I'd really like if the character could move a little faster, but I had a good time playing anyway.
Good job!
