Project Vamparty by maybe
You are a wounded vampire losing blood. Drain Victims to regain your true power!
Controls:
Move using the keyboard ARROWS (alternatively wasd)
Attack using Z (alternatively mouse click)
You will constantly lose health.
You can attack characters that are in your range, they will be highlighted.
If Hunters catch you, you are dead.
When you suck blood you may inherit bad effects like narcolepsy =P
If you complete your health bar to the maximum you become immortal again and it's fun time! kill everyone =)
the game was too big for us to finish in this 72 hours, but we did our best and the game lacks feedback, but it's somehow playable and fun.
thanks for everyone, if you enjoyed it (or not) pls leave a comment below.

Was missing some sound effects on the core mechanic but otherwise it felt super nice to bite people, and controller support was very appreciated.
Overall great work :)
When you drain victims you may get bad effects, like narcolepsy (the screen blinks from time to time), time may pass slower for you (enemies run faster). We didn't finish the user feedback on this in time, sorry =(
The second room was not finished also, you just fill up your bar and kill everyone, that's the ending, a screen with only you without NPCs
Probably what you have to improve the most is the game feel for the effects you can get from enemies, since sometimes it's difficult to understand what's happening (for example, with narcolepsy). But really, good job guys!
Good selection of music as well :)
Design first. It is too easy to win at the moment. Takes mere half a minute to gain full power at which point the last semblance of challenge is thrown off the dance floor. The view cones of the hunters are small and they don't move much or work together. Having to wait around in shadows breaking their line of sight before striking would have fit the vampire motif better and intensified the life force draining mechanic.
Then the implementation. As mentioned before (by you!), there is a criminal lack of feedback. I admit, I accidentally (honest, guv!) started playing before reading the description and the negative effects seemed like bugs more than anything. I did find one proper bug though, if you wait around in the lobby and continually attacking the poor tutorial fellow you will gain full strength and cannot enter the party proper. A bit weird that.
Bad in places, good in places... Average!
Overall: *Average (3.0)*
Fun: *Lousy (1.5)*
Innovation: *Above average (3.5)*
Theme: *Average (3.0)*
Graphics: *Good (4.0)*
Audio: *Good (4.0)*
Humor: *Lousy (1.5)*
Mood: *Above average (3.5)*
There was an initial idea of waiting in the shadows and playing more stealthly, but we made some wrong assumptions about the time required to code everything, even with the little time we took to eat and sleep.
Thanks man =)
As said before, some negative effects looks a lot like bugs, maybe it woul be better to show something (like an icon) to show you're under a negative effect.
Except that, I loved the pixel-art and the sound was a mood itself. Good job, and try to finish what you really wanted to do, I'm sure it could be a very good game!
Yeah... we worked on the mechanics first and level design was planned to be done later, so we didn't do ANY level design at all.. =(
Feedback was planned to be done later as well. Sorry it is our fault that we didn`t manage to really FINISH the game.
@mahalis
Thanks for the feedback, good to know you enjoyed it =)
Thanks everyone =D
Great job on the jam tho, best of luck! :)
It did feel like a lucky shot as sometimes I got too many huntears near me, making it impossible to advance.
About the music... I understand the choice of the track, being a vamPARTY, but it just really got me stressed hearing it since the beginning, too loud and distractive (I was using headphones and if I was on the lowest level, if I toned it down, I muted the sound). Some sound effects, for when attacking for example, could be a nice little addition.
Overall it was a nice game with a polished look, which will be even better from which improvements you set to make :) Congratulations
Thanks =D
@saramartins
Sorry for the lack of better instructions, but you can use a Joystick, use the keyboard arrows to walk and even the mouse button to attack.
The music was a last minute addition and we didn't calibrated the volume, other thing the time didn't allow us to do.
Our goal for the next jam is to actually FINISH the game and deliver something better for the community =)
Thanks for your feedback =D
Cara incrivel, um puta jogo, sensacional, a arte esta impecavel, surreal vcs terem feito isso em um fim de semana, coisa de altissima qualidade, parabens, mt legal msm !
Thanks a lot =)
Sorry about the Z, but as I mentioned earlier: you can use a Joystick, use the keyboard arrows to walk and even the mouse button to attack.
Sorry for not putting this in a more clear way =x
@svr-audio
Wow, thanks =x
We loved your compliments, the game is actually not 'play ready' at all but we did our best for the jam, as I mentioned on the other comments I replied.
Valeuzão parceiro =D
Agradecemos de coração os elogios!
In general its a great game. I just had one situation, where my main character was shrinking, don't know if that was as planned.
It was planned. That was exactly the theme, the more people you have the more `effects` you get from them.
But, because we screwed up our time planning, we didn't have the time to make the user feedback for the effects, so it looks buggy.
Thanks for playing =D
I encountered a bug with a person spawning on stage and I killed them and was trapped on the stage afterwards.
Otherwise cool little game.
sorry for the bug =x we will fix it for the final version we will release on itch.io =D
@pvtroswold
thanks for the compliment =D
From the rules page at https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/rules:
> **You’re free to use 3rd party Artwork/Music/Audio assets, or assets you previously created, but we ask that you OPT-OUT of the respected voting categories (Graphics, Audio).** You can opt-out of a voting category when you submit your game.
That aside, it's an interesting start that's got potential, though clearly you guys were strapped for time. Great sprites! Leaves me wondering what your finished vision for the game would be like!
Thanks for pointing that out, I didn't even know we could opt-out of the category. I will do that as soon as I figure out where I can do this. ;)
[update]
just did it. =)
