Not enough [ SPACE ]

DEMO

I'm actually a Front-end Web Developer but I'm also a Hobbyist Game Developer. I joined this contest a bit late, but my game is finally finished. This is my very first game I made on web. And this is also the first idea when I read the Ludum Dare 42's Theme.

The story

When you go to work the first day at a company called IBEEM, the company was being harassed by a dark force - SpaceJamLord. They cursed all the company's digital documents by deleting all white space in the text. And also the [Space] buttons in all most modern computers in the company were ruined too. The company fell into bankruptcy. You are the last hope of the company with the super-ancient computer but can curb the curse.

Tech I used in this game

  • VueJS
  • Netlify for deploying
  • Photoshop for drawing
  • Google Fonts
  • This color palette https://coolors.co/1974c6-1781c9-f0a821-d9601e-ffffff
  • A few Monster's energy cans
  • My sick humour and imagination

I'm really sorry because the game has no sound effect or background music. I don't have enough [TIME] to make some. If you guys like this game I will update that later.

Haha really intresting game, and I failed already at "dont press space to start" lol xD (so used to press any key and then I choose space, cuz it's big)

There are some bugs indeed, are you going to fix them and put up a new version?

Very interesting take on the theme! Never thought I'd be adding spaces to sentences... for fun. Well done!

Very interesting game, got failed already on the beginning phase. I once had a job base on editing scan-files like this, just adding space betweens words and fix some fonts error all days. Now people will understand my feeling.
Didn't find any bug yet,but i will update my comment

Unusual take on the theme, nice!

The concept is fine, but I got the impression that the countdown timer's accuracy was a bit off sometimes. Other than that, the mechanic is simple and oddly addicting. Congrats on your first web-based game! :D

Cool concept though pretty difficult and a bit hard to get into. Feels like a bit of a mixed message to say "the space bar is cracking" when it's the only interaction you can do - am I supposed to use the space bar or not? Also the scoring was pretty unforgiving, it seemed like you only get credit if you do the spaces in the exact correct order from beginning to end. It was pretty frustrating at first since it felt faster to put spaces in the middle of the paragraph wherever I saw words at first glance. The time limit is really short too - definitely would be better to start off with an easier level. I was only able to finish the first level once. Still the overall presentation is really cool & the concept has some good potential, with some difficulty/gameplay tweaks and sounds this could be pretty fun. Good work!
