A 15 Year Voyage From Mars by Pavocado

[raw]
made by Pavocado for LD 43 (JAM)

You're approaching the end of a 15 year voyage transporting your colony to their new planet. There's only one problem though - your landing mechanism won't function if your ship is too heavy! Jettison rooms to make your ship lighter, but choose wisely - some might lead to the destruction of your ship!

How To Play: Press the scan button to find rooms available for jettisoning. Select a room and press 'jettison'. Try to get your ship down to the respective target in the allocated time.

That was pretty cool. I like the goofy writing and the balancing of ship health, happiness, and the special item per ship. Something simple that would probably help it be more engaging is if the repeated text (intro, the "not the x!" text, etc.) had more variants. It's also odd to worry about sacrificing amenities when you're about to land in 2 minutes anyway. It would be interesting to see a longer term setting for a system like this, where missing parts have specific actual repercussions.

TIP: The game needs re-zipping but put all the files into a folder as the files are currently "loose" and people will tend to just export the .exe from the zip (Vlad Dae's current problem)

Other than that the games humour...actual belly laughs from me! Great work!

A fun idea. I the game bugged a bit, it seemed to 'remember' my current weight from the previous missions, unless that was intended? That made some of the missions rather easy.
I see a lot of potentials to expand on this idea like adding more consequences, depending on what you jettison, and maybe using the texts for a small storyline or something. The text was nice, but quickly became repetitive, and something you just wanted to click past, but it was a nice touch, and with time constraints, I suppose you don't want to spend all the time writing lines.
I refrained from rating audio, as I had no audio while playing, but since you're in the category I assume something might've gone wrong?

Thanks for sharing your game.

I like the concept, but I don't think I could die, even when jettisoning the control room! Also level 4 just finished itself without me doing anything. Maybe the weight isn't resetting properly?

Anyways, I enjoyed it enough to play all 5 levels with dubious success :) Great humor and it's a nice simple game. Thanks for giving us levels too!

@icehottet Thank you very much for the advice! This is the first game jam I've entered (and first PC game I've made in unity). Glad you enjoyed it though! :D

@mekuri @stevie-bushman Those issues definitely sound like they shouldn't be there. I'll have another check - I think I may have left some debug code in. Thank you both for the kind feedback though. I had so much more I wanted to do with colony happiness, extra rooms and everything, but unfortunately ran out of time.

There's also no audio too, didn't realise I could opt out of that, but have done now :)

Uhh... Captain ?!?
A pretty damn cool game ! Firstable it's a bit confusing and it's try and die and retry, but once i understood the number of rooms and the weight, it' become very intense and hard to choose !
If you can add some sound it could be wonderfull, and some comments of the colony who regularly complains, and the ejected chambers have an effect on this complaints

@titorrm Aw a reference to the game, ahhhhh, thank you! And yes, I so wanted to add so much more to the game, like a tutorial, and even sound, but unfortunately I got ill and ran out of time. So glad you enjoyed it though :D
