The Terry Pebble Show - An Awful Day Time TV Simulator
Have you ever dreamed of being a tacky, low budget, day time talk show host? Well time to fulfill that dream by playing as compassionate but not afraid to say it straight faux-therapist/talk show host Terry Pebble. Interview the guests and decide if you should play the shoulder to cry on or give them a swift wake up call. Sometimes the truth hurts... and gets better viewers.
Today's theme - The More You Have, The Worse It is
The Terry Pebble show is a short interactive narrative driven game. Don't come expecting fun gameplay, but maybe you'll be entertained for 10 minutes anyway!

Created in 2 days for Ludum Dare 40 - Jam Entry
We both had commitments on Saturday so didn't start the Jam until Sunday. We weren't going to take part but we thought the theme sounded like the kind of theme on one of these types of horrid shows and we figured we could make a quick joke game out of it with our adventure game framework in a day and a half. This is the result. There's not much to it and it's more of a cartoon than a game but we hope you like it anyway!
P.S. There isn't much logic behind the choices you make. Just choose how you feel the guest should be treated. Then play it again and treat them differently!
V1.1 is a post jam version with most of the typos and audio issues fixed.

Only had one issue: there was a bug where the sprites would rapidly flicker every so often, no idea why but fortunately it didn't ruin the experience :)
aside from that, I thought that the default music was kinda loud(wasn't an issue though, since you gave the option to change the volume)
I really enjoyed it overall, I got kinda inspired by this.
(how is the score calculated by the way? I got a 4/6)
The gameplay felt random and I didn't feel like I got cues on how to react best to score high.
Also the humor wasn't really my cup of tea - however if you rate some more games to get people to your page, you'll probably will have guys here who genuinely enjoy the jokes you went with. :)
Why must you hurt me this way...
Really though, great game and interesting concept! I played your game from last year and really enjoyed it so I'm glad you made another! I'd prefer it to be a small bit longer, but there's only so much you can do with the time you have. Great job!
Real nice technique, sound and graphics are really cool ! I figure you had to work hard from the start with all those stories happening... Did you do the recording at the very end of the jam ?
see you guys !
You really did capture the image of the Jeremy Kyle and Jerry Springer, everything from the sad piano scores, the studio laugh tracks to his awkward whiney voice going "wakeee up keyleeee!"
Her voice had me in stitches as well, that brummie accent was so spot on - yuck :yum:
Something I feel was lacking was confrontation - dna tests, bouncers stopping fights and backstage trash talking - that would have been the icing on the cake for me, I think the two encounters were just too similar although don't get me wrong still very entertaining!
A feature I would add would be a hover-over mechanic for the guests so I know I can interact with them - It would be a great stepping stone into making the game into a more intuitive and interactive experience - just a thought :yum:
Regardless, you guys pulled off a very interesting title - It was a pleasure to experience Terry Pebble of the Terry Pebble Show!
I like the general game idea, it's simple and it works!
The humor is ok but for me "How to cope with boredom and loneliness" was much more to my preference.
