Thanks for asking me to play your game on my stream https://www.twitch.tv/saoigames tonight.

There were a lot of variety which was cool, but I'm not sure how well the cards + tower defense were incompatible. They fit really well together and felt very natural.

I don't know enough anime to get the jokes about the characters, but it seemed silly and creative. I still don't understand how I got the achievements I did, and how to unlock more.

Look into balancing you audio levels. The sound effects for the characters/otaku felt too muted.

Nice game with fun characters, the camera was a bit misplaced though since I couldn't see the enemies when they came out and most enemies died before I saw them. (I was playing in windowed mode at 720p)

@saoi-games Thank you again for playing! And for the feedback! Cards + Tower defense was one that was a little hard to do. This was due to balancing the cards / towers since they're mostly random (And what was the incompatible part for me as it could go really badly sometimes). And Thanks for the feedback on the audio and the achievements, that's something we need to work on!

@dj-depressive Thanks for playing and for the feedback! I agree, the camera is a bit misplaced and was something we overlooked when making it. Will be added to a list of things we can fix!

Fun game the card idea what great! Spent a good half hour or more playing this game. I especially enjoyed the announcements and the names of the cards.

Lots of fun with the announcer and crazy card names ! Adding the possibility of making the game faster (pretty common feature for tower defense games) would be perfect 👌

I spent way more time playing this then I should :p

The positives:

* SOOO much chaos
* Very good voice acting, could be repetitive, but it's not and stay funny for long
* Naming of towers and character
* Super cool voxel art

The less positives:

* A bit lengthy as the difficulty doesn't seems to ramp up if you have good towers at the start
* One punch chan didn't cost me the 4000
* I manage to bug the game on the MID level, I place a new tower at the end of the round, the sound for the tower and the card shuffle started at the same time then frooze the game. Clicking the X button fixed it and I could keep playing
* The maps could use a bit of details, buildings / vegetations

Overall this game is awesome!

PS: what drawing program did you use for your voxel art?

@Togis We're sorry about the bugs, we've tried fixing a lot of the game breaking ones, will try and fix that one! Glad you enjoyed the naming and humor! I will definitely add these to a list for future reference when improving this game. And thank you for the feedback overall!

@DosWosh don't worry about the bug, I just wanted to let you know but it's normal to have some ;)

@Togis I forgot to add, we used MagicaVoxel and Paint Net

Really cool concept haha
I would add something to what the other comments say : I think it lacks a way to speed time, like what you can find in many tower defense games.

Whoa, I didn't know Studio Trigger took part in the LD. But seriously, this was hilarious. I loved every second. Usually, when games have RNG elements, they tend to break the game for me, but here, every card was useful so it never felt like you drew a dud, that was neat. Don't really have anything I didn't like, the only thing I'd note is that it took me a while to figure out I was supposed to click the health care packages and that clicking X to make the victory screen disappear feels a little anticlimactic. But those are minor nitpicks, like I said, it's a great game.

I loved the over the top moments of the game, especially the announcer. A few points that I mentioned on stream earlier that I would have loved to see

* Being able to see some stats on the cards before using them, such as dps and/or range of the unit
* Being able to remove or replace a structure with a different card
* Also would be cool to be able to switch to the overhead camera manually instead of just when using a card to place a character

Overall i really enjoyed this.

This game is great! This is one of, if not, THE most polished jam game. You've got a ton of enemy types, tons of tower/card types, great audio, a great theme, and the gameplay is solid. This isn't just a great jam game, this is just a great game. Played through to completion which should say it all. Excellent job.

Well that was awesome! I liked just about everything in your game, including goofy audio, wonderful voxels, and, of course, all of the anime jokes! And it's surprisingly nice balances as a TD game. Nice job!

3 lives seems to be too smal for a luck based card draw, though =( all it takes is one particularly nasty wave. Mine was 23rd.

I'm personally not a big anime fan, so I'm sure I didn't get a lot of the anime jokes, but man was this game epic! I'm impressed with how many different towers and enemies you were able to fit into a weekend and you even managed to get an epic boss battle for the last wave. Sound effects and music were great and that voiceover work was epic. Fantastic game! My only criticism is that I wish the camera would've been positioned so I could see the enemies emerging at the start of the path. It was a bit annoying that enemies were being shot and killed before I could see them.

Good tower defense, kept me hooked until I perished. Sometimes hard to tell how a turret is going to work before placing, but that's a problem only for the first time playing.

5/5 for every category. This is by far the most professional and fun game I have played in the jam and is the only one to make its way from my downloads folder to my games folder as I will want to play it again. I debated whether it deserved a 5 for theme and decided that the card based system was definitely deserving of the top score

This game is perfect in every way. Graphics were very well made and the sounds introducing the cards were hilarious! The balance was surprisingly good and even though I only got to round 24/30 I will play again for sure and try to win all waves. With so many awesome things very well done it seems wrong to point out some small details that could have been better :P

Great job!!!

This was really well done! I had a blast playing it and it kept giving me more and more stuff to look forward to. My one complaint is that 30 waves takes a loooong time. I thought it ended at 10 for a moment when I got the first letter and thought that was a reasonable stopping point. That said, having too much content isn't really a valid complaint... Great work to everyone involved!

Also +1 for using "godspeed."

I really like how you went all the way with this premise. The amount of different anime references is staggering. I also like the enthusiastic voice-over and big, bold text. The visuals were also very charming. The gameplay could get a bit repetitive, even for a tower defense game, and I felt that the weapon and enemy variety was a somewhat lacking. I also wish that there was some in-game explanation for what all the weapons did so I could use them more effectively. That said, I had a fun time with this game. Nice work!

CAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRDDDDD SHUFFLEEEEEEEE!!!!
Really great game, loved it, specially the music, totally up my alley. The presentation was just awesome, the voice made it really cool. Also the way you mixed the genres was perfect.
A couple of things though:
- I didn't get some of the references, other were quite obvious and some way to generic. That ain't bad but I think targetting even more concrete things would make it hilarious. Just adding "chan" to everything doesn't mean anything xD
- I finished the mid level and there was no way to return to the main menu besides going to quit. It would be nice to add something here like "press XXXX to return" or whatever.
- Removing turrets. I guess this is a feature that you couldn't implement due to time.
- Changing views. This would have been great as in the later levels there's way too many enemiesa and you can't see them all with the current normal view.
- Easy and long. Too many waves and none too hard.

The game could totally be expanded upon, it would become something totally cool.

@JSD Thank you for your feedback, the references are there for people who can get them, we didn't want to 100% make it all references and balance it out so people that didn't watch anime would also enjoy the game. The chan isn't meant to be a reference as such, just there to make everything overly dramatic. Balancing difficulty was something that was hard with this game just because of the randomness, so it would either be too easy, or too hard, it's something we're working on though. I can say most of your feedback is already in the new build we're working on for after the jam! Thanks again for the feedback, we will try improve on that!
