Nice idea and satisfying execution. Jumping feels nice, sound and visuals are great. Although GameBoy version, ironically, feels the smallest, as the camera is too zoomed in and you have almost no time to react. And hand-made levels, as opposed to procedural generation would work way better, because in this state, there are boxes right on the edge between two screens and it's impossible to get the (thus, making a 100 % completion of the level more to do with luck than skill)

@apple-dash thanks for such a thorough and complete review! I totally agree that the procedural part makes it really tricky to know if the game is actually 100%-able. Will take all the feedback on board :)

Graphics are so simple, yet extremly cool. That's what one should aim for, when making retro pixel game. It's really neat. Game is well balanced, easy when you don't care about score, hard when you want to master it. Ans somehow i think that type of gameplay would be best suitable for a rhythm game!:D

@ulcius thanks so much for the lengthy review! It means a lot. It could certainly suit being a rhythm game!

It's funny because we got almost the same idea with the theme. Yours is clearly less confusing than mine, so congrats! Very good job, I played it several time to increase my score but I sadly didn't manage to make a perfect score :'(

Innovative use of the theme! I was waiting for a level on a retro phone or something tiny tho, which would just have literally pixels XD

Nicely done all around on this one! Excellent music too. I laughed out loud when it got to the watch phase. I was waiting for the last phase to be individual pixels on a binary clock display or something.

I've got to get in on this Pico-8 business, all the Pico-8 entries I've played so far have been really really cool.

The runner itself is easy and very basic, but switching to smaller screens is cool. Graphics and audio are well made.

@qkerguelen I will definitely have a go at yours too seen as we have done something similar! I'm pretty sure a perfect score is borderline impossible so don't feel down about it. Thanks for the review!

@alex-adedge Thanks for the review! With a bit more time I wanted to add a phone, but yeah a retro phone or something tiny like a Casio would've been funny!

@quicklyer Thanks for the great review! I wish I had have gone a stage further now and done a really tiny final level! Do definitely recommend Pico-8 to anybody, after 4+ years of Unity development I found Pico-8 a breath of fresh air for building things fast that don't require complex code. Thanks again!

I really like the switching to smaller screens as a form of increasing the difficulty level. Very original!!

The gameboy and iWatch are so small that apparently my reaction time is to slow to make it over the boxes in time but I can get most all the coins. :sob:

Great entry! The device downscale idea adds some flavour to the theme usage, and I liked that graphics updated accordingly as you progressed. Music and sound were fitting too.

Gameplay-wise, the main mechanic is simple and very effective, although I have to say that I neglected the rolling option at the beginning (and I justly regretted it as soon as I got to the results screen). Once I got the hang of it the game just clicked and I got hooked.

Congratulations, this feels really solid! :)

Great! Simple but works really well. Cool music too :)

The difficulty could be fine-tuned, I ended rolling all the time and got a B- while I got a F when trying to play well :stuck_out_tongue:

Very smart use of the theme! I'd love to see a version with more different levels (and hardware to play on?) GG

@cary-stanley thanks for the review! The difficulty does ramp up especially on the Game Boy screen so dont feel bad, just remember you can roll through the boxes instead of jumping them ;)

The textures of the laptop and smartwatch are maybe a bit too reduced, but else nice looking game. I love the music and the game idea!

Don't think I have much to add but I really liked the various screen sizes and decrease in pixel density and all. It was definitely a little tough but as a retro lover I had to appreciate this. Thanks for a fun game!
