Bringing the limitations of VR to traditional PC gaming, TechNaut puts you in the boots of these high tech gloves.

Your legs are missing and you must use your other forms of locomotion to move about and overcome challenges. Solve puzzles, move around with your grapple and rocket hands in the magical land of space, where physics need not apply.

Awesome game! The movement and controls were really fluid and felt great. The artstyle fits the game well and look nice.
Overall great game. Good Job!

Now, this is right up my alley! I'm one of those few people who actually enjoy FPS platformers. This game gives me strong "A Story About My Uncle" vibes. It controls well and the first level was kinda perfect. Unfortunately, I'm not quite sure what I'm supposed to do in the second one. The level design seems a bit random. That said, there's a lot of potential in the game. Graphics are great, the sound is great. TechNaut gets the theme of the jam right (VR in non-VR is a smart deconstruction), it's fairly innovative and I feel like the only thing that took me out of the experience was that second level that I couldn't quite get. Still, it was a pleasure playing your game. Good job!

Looks a lot as "A story about my uncle" by Gone North Games. But still lovely

@LemonBalmGames Thanks for the feedback! I ran out of time to better design the levels so they really are random, definitely needs a lot of work. To complete that level you need to grab the cubes and take them to their color matching areas. Then the puzzles at the end of that level will unlock. For those puzzles, stay inside the bubble, press the buttons, the final 'orb looking' button is really tricky (totally not broken 😆) you kind of want to bounce it.

@Mironx I was told that pretty early on. I had never even heard of the game before that, looks cool though. Obviously :)

Very nice game! It didn't take long for me to realise what to do, and I had fun doing it.

So this is what it feels like to be spiderman with broken legs :P.

I liked the game, it's very chill and peaceful. The rock grappling reminded me a little bit of some platformer parts in Gravity Rush. The music blends in nicely and the SFX is cool.

I got stuck in one of the blue turning thingy for a while which was quite terrifying but I made it through.
Reading the description it seems like I missed a few of my powers. Maybe add a quick tutorial screen, or the controls somewhere on the UI.

Nice game and good job in finishing it in time !

@Ashtrail

You're a spider but instead of 8 legs you have none

'Finishing it in time' Finished a rough concept, sure. I think I will try finishing it properly in the next few months and work on an actual VR version. I will be introducing the mechanics incrementally in that. I will be trying to keep it nice and peaceful.

Gravity Rush was actually latest game I bought. Really looking forward to eventually playing it and probably getting a bunch of new ideas.

I did encounter that collision problem with the blue spinny things. It doesn't happen if the player just uses them how I want them to! Will definitely work on that.

I’m not sure if you were able to see it, but I played your game on my stream at https://www.twitch.tv/saoigames tonight.

At first I thought your game was for VR, but I went back and played it on my machine. I liked how to you captured so of the limitation of VR with a PC game.

The first level was somewhat challenging but I figured it out, however when I got to level 2 the entire place seemed way too spread out. I had to use my rocket to travel for a very long distance that seemed excessive and couldn't quite figure out how to get the block to fit into the spot I thought I needed to be moved to.

I liked the visuals and the sky-box was really great. I"m not sure if you added much audio, but I could only hear some small sounds at the beginning and I would have really liked to hear wind and thrust sounds as I flew around.

I hope that you continue to work on this project, and if you have VR games you'd made I would love to try them out.

Hi! I tried to run your game on my HTC Vive but it didn't work, so I did play it on my machine instead. I like the mechanics! The core gameplay is solid, and I also enjoy the graphics, they add a nice vibe to the game. Overall, solid submission!

BTW, we’re still a couple reviews short for our VR submission, so in case you happen to have a VR rig, we'd appreciate any feedback: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/the-ultimate-magic-duelling-tournament-vr

It's pretty neat, the 3D is clean, the universe is interesting - now it terms of gameplay, I find it lacking. It would have been more interesting with a bar for the booster and a bar for clinging to objects, IMO, then you have to alternate between the 2 - otherwise you can just clear the whole 1st level with the booster, which I did, and it isn't all that interesting or challenging. I was a bit disappointed also to find no end screen of any sort. Anyhow, it's a fun little game, good job to y'all :-)

@saoi-games I found your video. It does have sound, you can hear it in your video but maybe it was playing through your VR headset instead? You really need to use the web slinging to move around, the thrusters are really just for finer movement. You almost figured out the cube! You had to take the blue cube to the blue area. It's pretty poorly designed

@StrangerYann What do you mean by a bar?
StrangerYann
13. May 2018 · 20:51 UTC
@iLoveYourFace OK I meant like a bar that fills up and empties, like the stamina bar in some video games, you know? When you use the mechanic it's associated with, it decreases, when you don't use it, it refills - and when it's empty, you can't use said mechanic anymore - you know what I mean?

AMAZING GAME! The whole cubes thing was very confusing, and I gave up on that level, but still really really good game!

I love the visuals and the audio is really fitting. I had no idea what to do with the cubes but hey, I am a dumb shit so I guess that's me.

Really good work!
