The Cave In by Jay Elbourne

[raw]
made by Jay Elbourne for LD 42 (COMPO)

Finding yourself trapped in a small mine shaft deep below the surface, you realise you don't have much time. The ceiling is starting to collapse making this small room even smaller. You are running out of space and need to do something.

You realize you can use the to Move around the cave, and even push the boulders around.

You had heard tales of this magical cave and its powers to make things disappear, perhaps I am the caves next victim and I will disappear. No, Let's stay positive. The tale mentioned something about if 4 boulders are perfectly aligned in a row they will vanish right before your eyes. Although not every boulder will work the same way.

In a burst of self-motivating monologue, you remind yourself that someone will come for you, You just need to survive long enough. Even if they can't get down to you right away, they may be able to assist with dynamite!

I like the gameplay aspect. The graphical style could be more organised (when it comes to text) but overall I see potential. Keep it up!

I actually started panicking at some point. Good job with that! Could be an even cooler game with different layouts and story progressing.

I got 378. Good concept. Fun to play. Might need some tweaking on the time curve. I feel it starts too slowly and accelerates too quickly. That's someting you can only realy figure out with lots of playtesing though.

Very fun game... great idea! Found myself hoping for the bombs toward the end to help get me free.

Nice entry! I liked the idea of doing a match game but with top down movement to push the blocks, interesting blend

199 points  Great entry! you had a very creative idea, the gameplay is too funny, only needs more polish on the graphics, but meh, the game is awesome in general.

This was fun to play. After a while though the blocks just started auto completing themselves. Other then that the game was great!

Despite simple graphics I really got a sense of clostrophobia from this game, greate for the theme! Fun quick game, nice job

fun to play especially with higher speed. I was buried alive in the end :(. Nice story behind. good stuff. The final score is a bit higher than my max score after i died by bomb, I guess what it destroyed didn't count to my max.

Nice entry!
Was fun to play. Several times to improve!
Maybe the difficulty should be more balanced, at the beginning it's easy, then it becomes hardcore very soon.

Fun and nice, but I wish movement would be more smooth. And more animations at all, I don't like when objects "teleports" from one tile to another. But it's pretty good game, good job!
