The Treachery by Tosunami
You as a brave rogue, descended down to the hell to save your precious companion from the bottom of the hell. Now you need to ascend through 9 floors of hell to save your belowed companion and yourself.
But hell is not easy, to ascend through each circle, you must defeat the keeper of the circle. Also you must sacrifice a precious part of you or your companion.
Your companion helps you through your journey by healing you constantly.
Be careful of your choices, you will feel the lack of what you sacrificed.

Overall I liked the look and the feel of the game, but I feel like you maybe should have polished the game a little more, the game feels the same even when you descend deeper down. I also think you maybe should have polished the UI (User interface) a little more, since I find it kinda lacking. Also you should display how much health, or how much damage or how much speed you've got, so you can actually see what what you are sacrificing. I also sometimes had a hard time figuring out how to actually kill the bosses (or whatever the stuff you have to fight before descending deeper) but maybe that's just me. Overall I actually think it's a good game, and great job with the music!
I was having a little bit of trouble with the movement; I think some combination of attacking while switching direction makes gets you "stuck" running one direction. It usually didn't matter, but sometimes cost me a few HP when fighting a boss.
For the bit I was able to play I really enjoyed this. The music really set the tone wonderfully and kept me driving to go forward. Honestly the music was the star of the show because it was so good. It elevated the epic feeling of this game dramatically and somehow lent more character to this version of hell.
I feel like the music made me think about the setting a bit more and made the main character seem more interesting. I really enjoyed this game and may revisit it if I learn how to beat violence!
Still all around I enjoyed it :)
@ericm @ian-kettlewell @drtizzle I updated the game now it's a bit obvious what to attack on the second boss. also javascript error is solved!
Hope you all like it!
In addition, before that, on Fraud, my character got stuck in the upper left platform and was unable to move, causing me to simply fire at the boss from the corner. I'm not sure what was the cause, but it appeared to fix itself by the end.
Still, an impressive effort. I liked the idea that instead of descending into hell, you're ascending from the bottom. I also like the idea of starting with a powerful character that eventually becomes weaker and weaker.
The bosses were really interesting and the variety was also cool to see! Really creative ideas there.
PD: It is a really good game, near to the end the sacrifices really made me change the way I was playing.
Also, when I got to level 3, I felt like there was a HUGE difficulty spike. I went from having 3-5 enemies on the screen to 10+ constantly. It's a bit tedious to take them all out one by one, so I opted to try barreling through it, much to my demise. :P
Other then that though, I like what y'all have goin' on here!
We are thiinking about polishing the game in a full playable game and publish it to market. What do you think about that? Would you play it if that would be a 2-3 hour experience?
But the game has potential. So I hope you bring it on the market ^^
Pros :
- Boss fights, mechanically and aesthetically brilliant
- The soundtrack is awesome
- The companion mechanic is excellent idea that adds a lot to the sacrifice decisions
Cons :
- The in-between phases before bosses do not feel that necessary, compared to the sheer excellence of the bosses.
- Needs more "juice" and visual feedback (bigger arrow, hit animations on the bosses, ...)
Overall, great job !
I do confess the controls felt like they needed a little work. For WebGL build, it didn't seem like holding done the mouse button auto-fired. Holding down jump shouldn't cause you to jump again when landing on a platform. I also thought that there was not enough visual and auditory feedback on successfully hitting a boss correctly. I highly recommend checking out [Make it Juicy](https://omiyagames.itch.io/make-it-juicy), Juice it or Lose it (search on Youtube), and other presentations on how to add these sort of polish.
I have rated your game, but all of my feedback was captured in the stream.
