The art could use some work (the line widths aren't consistent, the UI font doesn't have any personality), but I'm sure you already know that. More importantly, I got a lot of lag as more objects were added to the world.
Also, eventually once I got my really streamlined production process up and running, the trees stopped growing! Not sure if that's a bug or some really dark commentary on the real world...
It took me a while to figure out what to do though. A quick "How to play" or "controls" section in your description would be helpful!
constructive criticism wise, I would say tool tips would've helped me realize that houses give you people to work for you a lot sooner, I held off what I thought was going to be a house upgrade for quite a while, but that's more a suggestion for future improvements than anything, as would be some casual music to really add to this piece and maybe some little animations like tree wobbles/falling. You might have a memory leak somewhere as I was getting some slowdown after a prolonged period playing it, but it's only a game jam :P.
All in all this was a brilliant entry, that I thoroughly enjoyed. Fantastic Job
Still, I had fun with this game. Well done!
The only thing that was a bit frustrating to me, was the world expanding. I think it would be more addicting if the player could keep the upgrades.
Ran into the lag issue that others have mentioned. I was okay losing all the upgrades, although keeping my stockpile of wood, would have been nice. But to give more incentive to expand the planet, there should be some benefit. I never found myself NEEDING a bigger world...
Also agree with others that the workers needed some more balancing, to make them worthwhile. It would take a LONG time to recoup the costs of those upgrades (125 wood for 3x house + workshop + hammer) at the rate they chop.
Like others have mentioned, I like the expanding planet mechanic, just wish there was a little more to it.
Overall, good job.
