Blood Clot by Miguel Montero

[raw]
made by Miguel Montero for LD 40 (COMPO)

I present you my very first game entry. I didn't have much time to develop this game, but here it is:

RESUME: "A game where you are a weird 'blood clot' (no medical logic but c'mon it's a game) that moves side to side of a blood vessel. You control the direction in which the clot moves. White blood cells destroy some molecules, and 'malignant' ones stick to your molecule. Slowly everything starts getting faster. The clot will get bigger, and if the blood stops flowing you will lose. Scoring is based on the number of cells that pass through."

I really had a lot of fun making this game. At some time in the competition I felt like giving up because my idea wasn't going as planned, but at the end I kept going and everything went right. This is probably my most complex code I've done, I mean, it is basic (I'm 16 years old, I know you don’t care), but I've used a lot of my different techniques of doing work.

I've recorded a lot of footage for a BAD camera and audio so I am going to make a bad Post Mortem. Thankfully this counts as work for my school sooooo yeah, worth it. I hope y'all had fun coding. I have a lot of HW to do.

Much love to everyone and keep coding!

Quite challenging and good idea. And blood actually works somewhat that way with the c***p we put in it.

I really like the idea. Fits the theme perfectly. Also, I always appreciate good physics in games :)
P.S.
Just a suggestion - upload build as well, not everyone has this specific Unity version to open and check it out without any trouble.

Good job, dude! Solid entry, especially for your first time. I had a lot of fun playing. Glad to hear you had a lot of fun making it!

It was a hassle to get up and running, though. You're allowed to create builds targeting other platforms past the deadline. So if you want other people to play the game more easily, I'd suggest resizing and making an .exe

Great game! The gameplay feels really fleshed out. The graphics do have some room to improve, however. Good Job!

Cool game. I got to a hundred!
Everything goes downhill pretty fast, if you start colliding, so esentially the initial phase of evading seems the most important part of the game to me.

The controls would have felt better had they been with the arrow keys in my opinioin, but I guess that's because you ported the game from the mobile app, so no problem.

There were some issues with the text being displayed incorrectly.

Overall the game had a really nice feel to it. I especially liked the sheer panic you get when the counter starts and you just try to wiggle the way free for those red blood cells

Nice concept, I think it's a really good take on the theme!
Although the clicking had me confused at the start, it worked out nicely in the end, as I did not have absolute control of my little blood clot :)

Nice concept, followed the theme to a T. Should be used as a medical exercise to scare people away from fast foods. 10/10 would heart attack again.

managed to get a score of 223 :)

Nice game, nice graphics, kinda lacks some background music but it is not really that important for your game. It works very well and I like it :) I hope you will have enough motivation to make it into an app, it would really work well!

Wow, if there's anything that could exemplify this theme, this game definitely does it. The controls were simple, too. Hilariously I had thought I had cleverly found a setup that would keep my score climbing but eventually the clot grew and that was that. I really could see that being a little game on a cell phone.

Nice work!

Good idea and its the theme! I think some SFX would help to give some feedback on what's going on, but I can see myself playing this as a mobile game. Well done!

It is really interesting: the mechanic is interesting, and in movement it looks cool. The physics become very interesting when the canal becomes very clogged. But there is a sense you can't win ! That is a downside, meaning even in a very hard japanese space shooter, you eventually can win or progress.
Still , I like it, I just wish I felt more at a chance as a player :p

Fun game with interesting concept (I have something similar in my game about enemies attaching). I like to restart game for few time and want to more and more. But you can add something in your gameplay, because I think it's some kind of boring in start of game, when you just keep moving near the board and don't do something else. And in the end of game it's like unreal challenge, but it's cool too. Good job :)
