Borderblast by C0nst4ntin
I haven't made any Games for a few months now due to School. But when I saw that Ludum Dare would be during my Summer break, I thought I'll just give it a go and here is what I came up with: There are to Borders, one is coming down from the top of the display and one comes up from the bottom. When the Player touches one of the Borders he dies, so he *"Runs out of Space" to move! * Try to make it to the castle on the other side, and try to collect the coin to get an extra 15 points added to your score.
*To Play the Game: *
1. Download the zip File
2. Extract the zip File
3. Run the jar File
4. Have fun^
* Tools: * - Language: Java - Graphics: Photoshop - Maps: Tiled Map Editor
Controls:
- A -> Left
- D -> Right
- W -> Jump

I like the concept with shrinking ground and sky, but I didn't understand what's the point of coins
Anyway, nice job!
I agree with @bronydell that controls should be more responsibe. The character is falling very slowly...
I didn't rate you in Audio because there was no sound. Is that normal? Also, why did you opt-out the graphics category? Didn't you make them?
The game felt slow though, but on it also game the game another feel. Controls with WASD is fine, but i would love to be able to steer with arrow keys, as i normally play platformers with my right hand.
The levels are nicely crafted and each one gives a fair bit of challenge (especially when you want the coin). I had much fun playing those 5 levels, and would like to play more (if you made them).
Also the menu is very nice, with appealing colors.
An element that can delay the closing might help a bit, Somehing that the player can spend time to collect to maybe gain more time than it took.
Nice game!
Although sound is missing, all the rest is well done! I can only understand how hard it is to nail different levels while crafting a game in compo mode (was the first time I did it alone, and man I suffered). So to recap in a few words, well played sir!
Try our game too, maybe you'll like it)
This game is very good, your age and the time you did it is very good. I am 15 years old and I am a programmer too, it is very good to see someone of my age in these parts.
What if I feel bad are the controls, it's a little complicated to move, however, the graphic style is very nice, and considering that you have done it alone (I do not have any artistic feat :P) is a very good game.
Excellent work!
There was one part that made me laugh when I reached the castle and then fall because I moved too much.
The aesthetics of your game looks really good too. Very nice consistent style. Great job on your submission. Would be nice to see more difference between levels.
I appreciate that there is a tutorial, seeing as - although it is unnecessary in some cases - not everyone automatically knows how to play certain types of games.
However if the levels incorporated the theme even more, than just having a smaller play area over time then it would be nice. But the submission is a great one none-the-less.
I think the physics are a bit too floaty for it to be a really enjoyable platformer.
Aside from that it is a pretty good entry, graphics are neat, it only lacks more levels.
Kudos.
Sounds would really have helped!
Please do check out our game and leave us some feedback as well.
Well done!
