In my first ever Ludum Dare submission (and first ever video game), I present: Eviction Evader!

Story

In Eviction Evader, the protagonist Dave has worked his whole life to earn enough money to have his own farm. He buys a land plot and gets to work starting up his farm, which barely makes enough money to keep going, but makes Dave happy. As the farm starts to struggle some more, Dave begins to receive eviction notices in the mail and later has lawyers threaten him, saying that they will take his property themselves. Desperate to keep his land, Dave will do anything to protect his farm and to keep the developers away. In this First Person Shooter game, you will help Dave defend his property against construction workers and lawyers. Will some farm animals, a sack full on manure, and lots of dedication be enough to save Dave’s dream farm?

Changelog

  • 8/13
    • Fixed audio bug (pitch was set to 0 for everything so nothing would play)
    • Fixed ships not firing (collided with the ship itself)
    • Fixed credits and story not scrolling (no clue what was going wrong)

Make sure you volume is turned all the way up (on your computer and in the game settings)

It may not have been all there, but it was still pretty fun throwing poop, and I bought a ship I think! (though maybe it doesn't do anything yet?) Good job! There is a lot there considering this is your first Game Jam!

Cool game! I enjoyed the concept. The spawn locations got a little repetitive and the poop didn't deal a whole lot of damage. The art style was also very nice

@jan Thanks for playing! All of the bugs I could find (mentioned in the changelogs above) have been fixed, so there is now sound and working ships!

@aaron-horrar Thank you for the feedback! Balancing was one of the main issues I knew I would have, so I obviously put it off until the last few hours. I hope to continue to update this and add some new features in the next few weeks, so working to make sure it is balanced will definitely be the main priority.

Fun game! The way the projectiles work allows for some pretty cool cross-map attacks. Only issues are the mouse sensitivity is very high with no way to change it, and in my first 3 seconds of my first game I clipped through the ground. (Although this doesn't affect the game much as you have to be right next to the cabin to do so.)![clipped.PNG](///raw/cec/b/z/19a5b.png)

Well, you got me with the humour. The story description here and in game was well told and funny. While reading the story on this page I didn't see it being an FPS coming and it made me laugh, expected some kind of diplomacy game or something crazy. Still got something crazy, just not what I expected.

Great work for a first jam! The graphics are really nice and cartoony. The mouse is a bit odd, at least for me, too sensitive maybe. I didn't like the shoot at first since the projectiles just keep on going but I started to enjoy once I started hitting moving targets from miles away. Pretty fun! Great job!

Fun little game, liked the idea of a sort of tower defense with shooter aspect. The overall feel of game was pretty neat as well and you designed a little world for your story to take place in!

Unity's physics are janky as always :D but nice game either way, especially for your first time! Wouldve loved ab better alternative for buying the turrets and fighting multiple enemies. Also locating the enemies is sometimes a bit hard.

Great effort put in and thanks for the submission, i liked it :)

Nice game! Despite some bugs, i finished the game and liked it, maybe if you added 3dsound it would have been awesome!

A nice first LD game. I think the scale of the play area was a bit too large. You could have shrunk things down a bit and made it a bit more hectic while retaining the core gameplay. Animations were nice and the sound effects were funny (if a bit low in volume).

I evaded eviction yay! Finally a fresh idea. Needs a little tweaking but was nonetheless very fun. The upgrades were super cool. Would love to see a polished version where you can buy new weapons.
