Appease the Gods by Fernando Tonon de Rossi

[raw]
made by Fernando Tonon de Rossi for LD 43 (COMPO)

Inspired on king Julian from madagascar.

The bunnies need to be sacrificed for the Volcano Gods. The player need to grab the bunnies and throw them into the volcano for reducing the Gods rage and getting god Bless.

The higher the bless is, more bunnies get born.

Unfortunately I didn't had the full 48h, had about 5h instead, but at least I've been able to do something playable. Hope u guys enjoy sacrificing the bunnies! It has been funny participating on the event!

I played your game because I HAD to play a game with King Julian
Simple concept, works well. A bit frantic for my taste.

Because the Volcano God angry meter moves in jumps, it's not always clear how close I am to gameover. Sometimes, the bar is less than half full, but because the jumps are x7, the game ends and I don't see the full bar.

Instead of making bigger jumps for the Volcano God, you should simply move the bar quicker. It will be easier to understand for the player that they're getting to the hard part of the game.

I really liked the hand drawn graphics.

It was quite frantic and I felt the hitboxes were a bit too small.

I like the art, with some touching up it could be quite a nice style. Also the game is impossible with a trackpad lol.

One can't deny that this is one of the more unique experiences in this game jam. For how simple it was it was surprisingly enjoyable. Very impressive for only 5 hours!

I like the drawings, and that there is no camera movement. I was a bit confused about the bars in the beginning. Pretty cool for 5 hours

As far as sources of inspiration go, "king Julian from madagascar" is pretty great

Yay someone else with a game where you need to throw stuff in a volcano! :D Good choice!

Really impressed you only had 5 hours to work on this, I appreciated it considering the short amount of time. Keep it up!

I loved the sound effects. From the description, it sounds like you didn't have enough time. I would love to see more.

The programming language (QML) helps a lot the productivity, and this web port (QML WEB - which converts the code to JS) also helps 'cause it eliminates the deploy time...

I'm curious what you would have made if you had the other 43 hours  Not bad for 5 hours, I like the hand-drawn approach and at first I thought there was a squeaky wheel in the background when you recorded the sound effect but then I realized its the death squeal of the rabbits. Good Job!

@kunonooni  I had no idea there was this back noise... now u mentioned it, I think it may be a poltergeist...

I liked your explanation for the event... "of course it was no poltergeist, but my astonishing audio recording ability that allowed recording the explosion and the rabbit SFX..."

Not a bad start to the game. Like others, I'm curious what you would've tried had you had the full weekend to work.
