batteryPackMan.png

A small arcade style game where you are the hero who brings solar battery to the field. The goal is to survive. Can you score higher than 300?

Hint: A unit won't die because of not getting charged. Sometimes you need to strategically give up on charging a unit for a moment, in order to save the unit, or save battery.

Hey, this was a really well executed idea that fit well with the theme. The gameplay was maybe a bit too simple and repetitive but the movement of the characters and enemies was fun to watch. It wasn't overly hard either.

Very nice game. The graphics are great, and the only thing I would change is to say that you need to click through the messages at the beginning. Took me a minute to figure that out. :)

Really creative game. The art was great and the gameplay was fun. It looks and feels like a game that took much longer than 48 hours to make. Great entry!

Really interesting idea, this would have fit well with "You are not the Main Character" as well!

I found a small bug, if you right click to charge something, and then you release right click and stand still, you won't be able to right-click charge again until you move. Small issue in what is overall a really cool project.

Nice, 8-bit game, font was a little hard to read but I got the gist and very quickly found myself choosing between whether to sacrifice the helicopter or the robot, good game but it got a bit repetitive.

Pretty cool idea.

But seems there is no way to win?
Earth will finally destroy by these monster :{
If I can refill their health while I am recharging them / charging for a certain to revive them
I think I play for much longer!

@goldranger Yes you cannot really beat the game. The goal is to get as high score as possible.
I now understand that this might make people lose motivation. So I added a "you win" message when you get 300 points. Thanks for pointing this out.

The health actually recovers automatically. If you can prevent the unit from being attacked for the moment, it will make a difference.

@connor-hagan Thank you for letting me know! I've fixed the bug. It was caused by rigidBody falling asleep in Unity.

I think it is a good concept and the graphics were very nice. The controls were pretty good, only it was sometimes difficult to stand in the right place to charge something. Juggling your charging and running around to assist the units kept me on my toes!

Hey Marvel I think we just found the next superhero. I love these graphics and the game was super fun. What's this "balance adjustment" you speak of I still can't get past 100, maybe it's because I suck at video games idk

I really like the art of this game, but I didn't really find a lot to do in the gameplay. I didn't understand why the player's power supply was so small, or why the primary control for charging was right click. It would be cool if there was some way to repair damaged robots, or potentially a store to purchase new units and maintain a larger army? There are definately a lot of cool things you could do with this concept and I'd like to see where this goes.

The art was pleasant and the idea was rather interesting! Overall it was a enjoyable experience although I would've liked a few other mechanics just to mix things up a bit. Well done!

@aevek @bill-zeng Note that the game needs strategy in charging the units. The limitation on the player's power supply is what makes it challenging. If you are interested, here's one strategy to play this game: try to ignore the robot when there is no boss (red dragon) spawned, so that you can keep the tank and the aircraft at full power. Only fully charge the robot when there is a red dragon spawned. When there is only very few minion monsters you don't even need to fully charge the tank or the aircraft.

I really like your concept of keeping the units powered, really cool :) its really fun and the art is nice! Good job!

I did notice that sometimes my clicking didn't seem to register on the units to charge them, but clicking around always worked :)

Getting a score of 300 has never been easier, considering how you can continue earning points after death. :P But I've only played the compo version, so maybe the post jam has this fixed.

But other than that, I thought this game was fun. I love the chunky pixel art style, and the music pairs well with it. The music is repetitive, but soft enough that it's not annoying. The sound effects were also good. I like the concept, and yes, I can see that when it comes to scoring, you do have to decide how to distribute the power depending on the enemies that appear. Well, I didn't really figure out the strategy yet, but I am definitely one of those players that loves to keep all their units alive so I didn't last too long! Overall, great game. And great intro, too. ;)

Couldn't make it remotely close to 300, only 150. :disappointed: I enjoyed the concept and gameplay mechanics the most! Also cant go wrong with a 8bit styled game, good job on a clean entry!

Nice job! I like how it is not you, but your allies, who are running out of power. Very creative! Gameplay is very smooth

Very creative idea, i really like it - though i only reached 94 points. Gameplay is going really well and the intro is a nice "attunement". I couldn't figure out a strategy on what to charge when, i simply charged anything that required it. Nice entry :)

Right in the pocket for the theme! Lots of potential for power-related mechanics: different ranged "weapons" to charge allies, thrown "battery grenades" with an area of effect, power pickups, etc.

I'll agree with the feedback about it being simple and repetitive, but...meh. 48 hours. It's hard to do! Nice work.

I really loved the graphics. Especially all the different monsters and background buildings. Really interesting choice of colours. The gameplay didn't really grab me but interesting concept and very good use of theme. Nice job.

Niice art, simple and cute! I especially like the damaged cityscape. The game was fun for the first playthrough but then I got bored. I think I just didn't get the mechanic of leaving units off, maybe a brief tutorial telling which units are good for what could help. Varying the gameplay a bit or giving us a weak gun to assist with would have been nice too, and this way we can try to fight our way out at the end when all our robots blow up!>:D Overall solid entry though:)
