Oh No!

The sky is falling and we are still fighting a ridiculous balloon battle!

In a world of floating islands, what do you do when the land starts to fall? Hold it up with balloons, of course!

Oh No! is a two-player strategy game. The goal is to get the highest score you can before the game ends. If you place a balloon, you claim that tile and the four surrounding it. But be careful, you can only build things near the structures you've already built. Build bridges to cross gaps between islands (they must be placed next to a bridge or balloon), and cannons that can fire at an enemy balloon!

Controls:

  • Click on a tile to interact with it.
  • Use the arrow keys or WASD to move the camera.
  • Firing Cannons: Click the cannon and press the fire button. Then, use WASD to scroll the camera and click the balloon that you want to pop.
  • Press 'pass' to pass your turn.
  • Currently, if you would like to end the game, the fastest way is to pass until the turn limit is up.

Seemed a good idea, 15 turns each didn't allow us to reach each other, so we couldn't use the cannons at all. With a bit of balancing it could be a solid strategy game. (I would decrease the distance between players maybe?)

Thanks both! @azo We actually originally had it at 20 turns each, but thought because of the tile decay it might be too little! If/when we release an updated version, we'll take a look at that, thanks!

Interesting Idea! It wasn't the most intuitive trying it the first time, but the music kept my confusion afloat. Or should I say, the Balloons kept things afloat? ...heh. heh... Good job on this!

Good job! I think you should have made the map smaller, so the players can be closer to each other. Or, the players could both start in the middle with some gap between them, so they would chose to fight or to explore a side.

@aszu Thanks! Yeah, we considered those options, but given the scarcity of time we didn't get to test configurations like that much. Will look into it!

I'm not entirely sure I got how to play this game correctly, but it sure was fun to shoot my buddy's balloons!

Interresting game, I would have liked an AI opponent, bit in the interrest of time I understand why there was none. The art is well done and the music fits the strategic nature of the game. Nice use of theme by reducing space each turn! Well done!
