Run for Love by SmokeSomeFrogs

[raw]
made by SmokeSomeFrogs for LD 41 (JAM)

This is a 3D platformer with dating sim elements. We thought a mashup would be nice and weird. It's a very short game - for one playthrough you won't need more than 5 minutes. Enjoy! :D

PS: First time 3D for us and first time Ludum Dare :) We made all assets ourselves except the font!

Funny Game. Jumping mechanic needs more work. It's not very precise and gets frustrating after a while.

I tried a couple runs. The environment was nice and the game was funny. My main issue is that it feels like you are skating whenever you try to stop. If the controls were tightened up it would have been stellar. Even as is, I quite enjoyed it. Nice work!

Gave me a giggle, loved it overall, only gripe is movement feels a little slippery since you decelerate too slowly.

My date was mean, controls were a little floaty when trying to jump on platforms, but other than that the movement was pretty slick. Reminded me of some of those old school counter strike levels. Looks pretty nice.

Cute art! I included it in my Ludum Dare 41 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XHFQFxHlU6Y

Great work! The platforming controls were a bit finicky and took a while to get use to, but I enjoyed the hide-and-seek platforming mechanic. Was difficult getting used to that "esc" restarted the level instead of pause. I expected more dialog options for the dating simulator portion of the game. I would like know whether or not you planned this game to have a horror theme because of the unsettling spritework and post-platforming-music. Overall, I think refining the controls and adding more dialog and choices will make for a great post-LD game!

This was a pretty cool experience. I like the fact you have to run and optimize your route to get all the items. Good job (more especially if it's your first 3D experience)! :)

Was pretty cool. Liked the map but yeah, the movement was a little bit difficult to handle. I feel like this could be a pretty fun game with more missions and dating options. Good job! :)

Congratulations on your first 3D Ludum Dare! I really enjoyed all the funny billboards you placed all around, and the slime girl graphic, like my ex, was pretty cute but really annoying to be around. (just to clarify, that was a joke)

I think the gameplay was a bit slippery; you might want to increase the 'return to deadzone' option in Unity so you stop faster. There was also a lot of glare on the floors in the game that looked odd and I feel should be fixed (by turning down the smoothness & metallic sliders in Unity). Finally, and personally, I could not stand the music in the main level. It sounds like the kind of thing I used to make before I learned music theory, all unnecessary chromatic lines and no really sense of musical structure.

Other than really closeup FOV and a bit bland level design I didn't find much to complain about here.

Interesting idea definitely :)

Speaking of level design take a look at this "masterpiece"

@ian1337 I would love to rate your game, saw it yesterday and wanted to play it, but the Itch-Link isn't working

I am clearly super bad at this dating thing.

The game was perhaps a bit too short, but it was pretty fun to play. The games music was okay, but it was also a bit messy. The graphics was overall good. So this was overall a good LD game. Well done.

Cool game. I didn't stop playing until I passed it. It is a funny idea, maybe a bit tricky to move though.
Actually I liked the weird sprites, of course art could be more polished but if you want to develop further I think the horror references will look good.

Simple but challenging game! The gift on the top of the platforms is very difficult to reach! Also the music is very good, it makes you hurry up! Very good job!

Funny game, the idea is nice and it worked out pretty well in a fun way. Though I have to say that the controls became a bit frustrating after a while. The artstyle was oddly funny, it'd be cool if you would continue this project!

I thoroughly enjoyed the game, nice to see one of the <...> + Dating sim ideas finally brought to life! The text was hilarious as well. Great job!

Heck yeah! That was Brilliant! I love the level design. It brought me back to the grand old days of Dark Forces. I also thought the music really matched the urgency. The 3d models were good and the 2d art was amazing. Lastly, I thought the story/mood was hilarious. Great Job, guys! Well done!

Nice game but the physics and controls were a bit wonky, especially in the platformer parts. I tried half of my time on the champagne bottle but could not get to it... :( The music was great for the type of game and setting and the art was simple but nice. Great job!

@jusw85 Hey, we want to port it to Linux in the next week, I think it should be done at the 23th of May (we have a lot to do and want to test it properly on our Linux machines), sorry for waiting!
