Interesting take on the theme. I would have made each month last a bit longer, but otherwise, its a great entry.

I love how you took the theme but I just kep losing power. I was unsure how to turn it around by pushing any of the buttons.

Love your interpretation on Power. Great fun even though I don't like reading that much.

The gradual power loss is a game mechanic, you gain power by "twooting" (the black almost cell phone on the right), interacting with documents to make decisions, and by having phone calls.

As far as the months go, I could definitely bump up the timescale, it was just brought down to fit the amount of content I was able to add.

I agree with xand, super interesting take on the theme. While everyone else is thinking of power as energy, you are thinking of it as political power.
I didn't last long at all, but I thought it was hilarious.

Great use of satire and humor. The amount of documents to fill makes the game very replayable and entertaining as well!

Great job! The bills were hilarious! I really wanted the phone to work (867-5309), and the Red Button to do something, and to see hidden things in the room, and my tweets (covfefe) to do something! Everything was fun to tinker with. Top marks too for choosing music that builds atmosphere.

Oh and the real president wouldn't read that much. Maybe next time have an intern read out loud :D

Tweets should do something, the actual impact is pretty low, so you have to compensate by volume (there are a few secret key words that give bonus points and I'm pretty sure covfefe was one of those). If I had more time, I would have definitely added more key words to the backend and changed the scoring system.

Hilarious! At first I was annoyed that I had to stop reading your excellent scenarios in order to twoot, but then I realized how enjoyable it was to twoot about the world-changing decisions I had just made. Yes. ME. WITH MY ENORMOUS HANDS.

Was the BNN button on my phone supposed to do anything? I just got a blank screen, but it would have been nice to see some reactions to my momentous decisions.

Anyway, I feel I've learned from your game how to be president, and I am definitely prepared for the job. On my second try, I was as good as George Washington, if not better! (On my first try, I may have pressed the big red button 17 times in a row before even sitting at my desk.)

I didn't have time to implement the BNN app, it was going to react to your decisions though, same with twoots.

I had also planned for a Rabbit News app and for phone numbers to work, maybe with continued development all of those can be implemented! :grin:

That was fun! I didn't get distracted by the twoots as much as I probably should have, but! I did get my staff very angry with the amount of times I pressed the "Do Not Press" button. That was a hoot. That was a fun twist on the theme with a nice light whimsical soundtrack! Keep up the good work! :)

This is pretty great, I had a lot of fun. Good implementation of the mechanic; I was actually thinking about my decisions and how they would affect my success. I can't really say that there's anything bad about this game, other than that it's not polished to a sparkly sheen. Great job.

Running out of power as fast as possible, very in theme. I like your games writing, and real life has written out some of these characters already.

I didn't expect this game to bring up such interesting game design ideas. The Amnesia Fortnight game, Dear Leader, had an almost identical visual layout, gameplay, and objective. I thought the only substantive change, switching out an unnamed dictator for Trump, would maybe make it a little funnier and less compelling, but it actually changed things in a more interesting way. I found myself not just acting the way I would in real life or trying to meet some in-game numerical goal, but instead actually trying to respond as Trump would. After a while within this silly little jam game, I was actually coming close to inhabiting a character that I despise in real life. Trump may be a bridge too far in terms of getting intelligent people to empathize with someone they disagree with, but it reminded me that it's a powerful ability games have (for example, people who go through police training simulations come out having greater respect and empathy for how tough that job is).

If you ever complete the phone and Twooter app features, I recommend using Yarn Spinner to script out any dialog exchanges. Night in the Woods was made with it, and I tried it out for the first time on this jam (not so subtle plug for people to try out our game). Yarn Spinner was easy to learn and accomplished everything we wanted it to. 

I'd never heard of Yarn Spinner, but it looks like a node based version of my phone conversation backend, this will definitely help with writing dialogs in the future, thanks for the suggestion!

Ha, fun and afaik unique take on the theme, made me smile several times. After a normal playthrough went for a random choice one out of curiosity and got a George Washington rank with 3/4 stats max/close to it, I think you nailed how presidential work is done, haha. Good job, dude.

Why does this 100% accurate simulation have a Humor category? Fake ratings, sad!

Hey - I checked out your game because I saw it mentioned in the blog and it has a similar take on the theme and tone to mine (although mine is like a UK version where you play as Theresa May) :)

- Nice idea; I like the idea of literally sitting at the desk and looking around and doing things from there
- I like the twitter thing, to the point where i wish you did more with it!
- Suggestion: it might have been cool to have the big pile of letters be letter that arrive periodically, to keep the player jumping between different things on the desk, and wonder what might come next, etc

But overall - good job :)

Very funny game. At first it wasn't clear that you had to twoot to get power back. I only noticed once I read your comment. Before this I was always impeached :cry:. Somehow nothing happened when I pressed a button on the phone, so my foreign relations were always at zero, but that didn't seem to matter. The audio and graphics were pretty nice and set a good mood.

Really funny game, with lots of interactions to do and a nice approach of the theme.
