Progression || Degeneration by JustinSix
This game is heavily inspired by The Binding of Isaac. You walk around kill things and that's about it.
I made this game for Ludum Dare 42. I didn't have any ideas I liked for the actual theme, so I just made my game based on the decay and evolve themes.
Had to cut 50% of what I made due to bugs... so no final boss.
I had to learn how to do every little thing as I made the game, as I didn't have real prior experience.

But powerup above the player and it is not impossible to take it.

Core mechanics are there. it wasn't clear to me that I had to pick up the green slimes to regenerate.
The turrets added an predicted angle and that wouldn't be that bad if the character movement wasn't so terribly slow, so you don't really have the possibility to dodge the projectiles most of the time.
And I despise gradual acceleration and deceleration in those kind of games, it feels like you are sliding on the floor. The difficulty curve was good though and I liked the inclusion of an update mechanic.
The controls need to last longer, maybe put them on the floor of the first room, like Isaac does?
The enemies were great, good job with that!
The spikes on the floor weren't immediately obvious to me, I get that it's programmer art but a little more contrast would be good - maybe make them on a black/darker background so it looks like it's a pit?
Music is good, well done for getting that in!
The floor of the rooms makes them look walled off, it took me a while to work out that I could just walk over it - I was waiting for it to let me through!
I'd definitely play a finished version, though! Good job :grin:
music stops after the first track finishes, should set it to a loop.
character controls are sluggish... mostly not an issue except for the really fast moving enemies... you basically can't do anything to dodge them.
Floor is confusing - it looks like it is separate rooms.
Keep up the good work!
