This is definately a great idea! The execution feels a bit bland though. Something to spice things up would help. But now I can't really think about anything...
Maybe boxes can continuously flow, some go and some come in. So you need to continiously adjust the ship value/weight on the fly.

That's actually a really good suggestion! I'll definitely explore that option if I decide to keep working on it after the play+rate phase. Thanks!

Fun concept! Without reading the description, I thought it was a boston tea party game. Is the level randomly generated every time? Some levels seemed a lot harder than others due to a lot of the boxes having a high or even amount of gold and not much weight!

There is a set weight value and it will keep adding boxes until the total weight of every box combined is equal to or greater than that value. The total worth of every box combined is (for all intents and purposes) 100% random, which probably makes the game a lot less skill-based than I'd like it to be if I'm being completely honest.

I'll be sure to add tea in a later update to validate your expectation :P

I really enjoyed this game, it was a neat take on the theme with a simple core mechanic. I feel like what you need is a sense of urgency, and maybe some hazards as the ship sinks (water puddles, holes in the ship, etc..)

good work

I really like the concept behind this game; the mechanics, while very simple, were quite fun and they worked extremely well with the theme. My only critiques would be to add some visual effects such as splash and dust particles and some way to see that the ship was sinking from top view. Also, the music didn't fit with the atmosphere very well, but otherwise, very good entry

Not a bad game to play for a bit

I like the concept and as much as I had fun playing this game I fell it's kinda bland. I think changing the music to something that suits the atmosphere and adding some visual effects and hazards would make it more interesting. But overall it's a great idea! Good work!

Thanks! It might be surprising given how simple this was but I actually was almost late submitting this, so I unfortunately wasn't able to add the visual effects I wanted :( I didn't think of dust particles though, that's a great idea.

I agree with you guys on the music. We honestly couldn't find a more fitting piece and this was the closest thing we liked. I'm sure someone else could find something better but we didn't in the time we had.

I really appreciate the praise and criticism. Thanks so much <3

Very nice! Very re-playable. The one beef I have is that the score is mostly determined by what items you get, so its really up to luck what score you get. Gj!

I agree with that beef. If I had more time I definitely should've put in some sort of weighted system for determining what items you begin with. Thank you for playing!

Really charming, will it be weird to say I like the credits screen? XD
The idea is good, and I think you implemented it well, very good job, It's a fun game to play.

I must agree with previous comments I'd enjoy getting better more if it was less up to luck. but still a good game, well done.

This is a good idea, but could use some more game-y mechanics such as enemies or dodging cannon balls, etc.
I appreciate the help and about page. A good amount of people don't get around to doing that!

Good game! I think you may find it advantageous to add some additional elements for more challenge. Maybe waves that knock away your valuables or an ignorant supply ship that drops heavy cargo onboard?

Also, I couldn't fit the game window on my screen. Maybe I had the wrong resolution, I dunno, but the game would be more enjoyable if I didn't have to manually scroll to see the timer.

I really liked this game, I think that it is a great interpretation of this jams theme. I do think that it could have used a bit more depth; there seemed to be a definitive winning strategy, throw the heavy or inexpensive stuff off the ship, which made it feel less like a sacrifice. I really like your art style, the theming of the ship and water was awesome! I'm not sure that the background music was perfectly suited to it though, to me it felt more like arcade game then oceangoing ship music. Great entry to this LD overall!
