Jump & Cards by Beh

Allow me to introduce: Jump & Cards, a crossover between the genres platformer and card game. Have fun!

Although the music was made by me, the sounds mostly aren't so I'm opting out of the audio category, I guess.

Tools and resources used: - Unity - paint.net - LMMS - freesound.org - Audacity

~~(Sorry for not providing a WebGL version. Unity keeps freezing during the build process...)~~

Now with WebGL support!

Since the frame containg the Unity web player on the itch.io page is somehow cropped, the link below leads you directly to the game.

Good combination, really interesting but there is a bug that really killing me (literally), when i'm walking in one direction, i get a card that tells me i can go on a different direction, either with speed up or speed down but what ends up happening instead of changing direction is my character rushes or crawls to it's dead, also the very first "challenge" is very tight can you can barely make it if you spam the click button after landing next to the spikes, cool concept overall, great stuff :D.

Nice work guys. I like your idea.
We also make our original. Mind to check it out: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/daxua

Like the idea, though it's really hard to play, maybe slowing down speed a little bit would make it much more fun?

That's pretty hardrcore to play. Great idea though and reasonably well executed :)

Cool idea and well implemented! Good job! I think the spikes after the first jump might be a little tricky for new people (or people who are bad like me), it took me a few tries. Other than that nice music (I guess choice of music), it had clear graphics. Good job!

I really like the concept, and would encourage you to try and polish out the level design. I find it's a bit hard as the new cards don't load in fast enough, so quick movements are difficult. If you get that out of the way, it'll be something really fun to play.

Great idea, super creative. Super frustrating, but there's always the replay button. Very good, though it feels very fast and tricky to play, even when just using only one speed card by itself.

Very challenging but also enjoyable when you get used to the gameplay. I couldn't get far, but that's probably just because I'm noob.

Cool idea and well executed.

A bit hard for me ^^ (speed 1 is already a bit fast).

I loved the graphics ! The combination is good, but as the other said, it is pretty hardcore to play. You have to be careful, and real quick to play, which is paradoxal with a card game. Maybe it would be better with a slower gameplay, but nice game though !

Wow, that's a hard game... I think there needs to be some sort of "on deck" concept where you know the cards coming up (edit: nevermind, right click to hold - that said, I think it'd be really interesting to run it like a tetris game where you know the "next card" coming). There were times when I'd start off and there'd be no way to "get past" the upcoming obstacle.

Great concept I like the hardcore aspect...

Good job on the mechanics!
As @GameSmartt pointed it out, the card don't load in fast enough. So I had a few failure just due to that.
Really enjoy the HOLD planning!

Great idea! I had a hard time getting past the first obstacle (that should be a bit easier), but after that I started to get it and have fun. I also think that the game should be slowed down a bit, since sometimes it's really hard to hit the right card in time to jump or stop.

The music was setting a nice vibe, very chill. Good job!

Frickin- Man, this was a rather difficult game to do. Couldn't jump up the ledge after the long spike pit, since I needed to collect 2 speed and jump to make it with a short runway. To be fair, you've combined two incredibly incompatible genres, so I won't penalize you for it... but some genres should not mix. What have you done.

In all seriousness, it was pretty fun! Good job!

Fun but hard game :) You can play it for a long time since you learn more the more you play. It felt really well done and professional.

Really liked the music, the game was super hard though lol. I couldn't get past the long spike pit! Good stuff!
