GREED by NORRIMO

[raw]
made by NORRIMO for LD 39 (JAM)

My third solo Ludum Dare and it was awesome. Too less sleep but it was interesting how much I have done again in these three magical days.

At this Jam I created for the first time a Metroidvania survival lifesteal game? I don't know how can I better descripe my game genre.

The gameplay is quite simple. Your life is equal to your attack damage and jumping exhaust you. Kill enemys to get health and more attack damage and go up to the surface.

*Note: * *You can't enter the door in the original version. * *If you want to enter the door than you have to play the Post-Jam versions. *

You can control with:

XBox Controller: Joystick to move | A to jump | X to attack

Keyboard: WASD to move | space to jump | enter to attack

Used Softwares:

Unity

Photoshop

BeepBox.co

The first downloadable option is my LD Jam submission and the following options are all Post Jam versions which I update from time to time with more content fixed bugs.

Please play the original version if you want to rate me or play a Post-Jam version to give me feedback.

Have fun. :)

I like the eerie atmosphere, and graphics look nice. Would be better if there was a pose or two for when the character jumps. Gameplay is interesting, but I didn't get how to open or what to do with the door at the top.

Nice graphics. But I can't go outside from first hole. :(

I think you should put a link to the windows version, because at first glance it looked like you only had source code. The game itself was honestly kind of confusing. I had no idea what I was doing and the way the game functioned. I wish you had put instructions in game. The graphics were kind of rough, but I liked the enemy design. I think you needed more UI and instructions (to be fair, I didn't play your post jam versions).

I loved the graphics. The style of the platforms and the monster pushing the spikes was so well done.

The lack of animations on the player hurt though. It felt odd to be skipping around with no change in my appearance at all.

I couldn't get past the first door. I killed the monsters, but had no clue what else I was supposed to be doing.

I played only the jam version and I liked the idea and graphic style. The fact that the movement is quite fast makes it a bit weird that there's no animation for the player movement or jump. Good job anyway

A bit too confusing, but maybe that's because I can't quite catch the developer's line of thought. But the visuals! The style, the atmosphere! Simply otstanding.

Nice start. Graphics have potential, would be nice to see animations. Music and mood fit well. Thanks!

Very interesting game, the mood and the style really fit each other. The movement was a bit too fast for me though. Good job!

Played both the jam and post-jam version, nice work! Really loved the art style and music in both. It seemed a little lacking in content for the jam version, but the post-jam had a lot of fun stuff. Loved the idea of consuming platforms for energy (jellyfish). Level design could be a bit better, there were too many leap of faith sections. Other than that loved everything else! Keep up the good work! I hope you finish this project, would love to play through it.

Screenshots look amazing, but game itself requires more polishing. Platformers are easy to make, but very hard to perfect. http://higherorderfun.com/blog/2012/05/20/the-guide-to-implementing-2d-platformers/ -- here is a good article on the topic.
