Being a waitress at the local diner has never been easy. But things are really about to heat up as customers begin to lose their patience in this Diner Bash!

Controls + Arrow Keys (Left, Right, Up, Down) - movement, walk to the table to deliver the food + Space - to interact with food station & punch

Welcome to our second go at Ludum Dare! For our two incompatible genres we combined Diner Dash and Beat 'em up. After receiving feedback from our first game I promised to make the game more accessible. DinerBash was made in Haxe + Flixel and exported to HTML5 so anyone can play in their browser!

Nice job with getting this working! I gave most of my criticism on stream. Thanks for stopping by!

Saw your game on Lumpy's stream! Gave it a play and it's pretty fun! Good job!

It started out kind of simple, but the difficulty of managing getting the food to the people ramps up nicely midway. I would love to see more beat'em up in the fighting part.

Liked the graphics, music was nice too, but a bit repetitive. The twist with fighting was fun (though kind of late in the game), but the fighting system itself was pretty easy, I realized that it's easier for me to just ignore enemies. I thought about surrendering intentionally, but the game started lagging (web version) because of enemy count :D So I lost the game shortly after that. My result was 37-138-459.

Other things annoying me were:
1) Often accidentally grabbed the wrong second item from shelves (because wrong one was next to the first item)
2) Customer indicator only shows 2 items, even if customer wants 3 - which resulted in drink items suddenly disappear from my tray (seems like actually they were requsted by customers, by not shown). It was confusing because I thought at first that enemies were beating items out of my tray :D

Good effort here!

I think you need more polishment in all things: the customers take too long to reach their tables, and goes from 1 order to 3 too fast. Also, a warning or a changed palette (like angry-red skin, for example) when they come after you to fight would be a lot nicer.

Even if it got a bit boring too fast because of those points, I had fun. Good job!

This was a very fun game to play! This is something I could just continue playing forever :)
The music was really awesome! Made for a really great mood while serving and bashing those rude customers!
Some tables (bottom-left) are a bit far away from the food counter, so the customers sitting there would basically never get served.
The pixel-art is also very neat. I like the cute hitting animation of the waitress.
I'm kinda sad that I missed the stats screen after I died, because I was spamming the space bar :(
Pretty sure I murdered well over a couple hundred unhappy customers ;)
Neat entry!

quickly got addicted and played for way to long would be a lot of fun if there was some depth added like more attacks or variations on enemy behavior.

This was a cute little game! I wish there was more penalty and reward for foods served/not served, but overall not a bad submission!

The game starts to shine when the beat'em up part shows up. A little more of variety on that part would make it perfect.

Good job!
