A semester of first order logic saved me here.

Ahaha, it's very deduction-based indeed

I had difficulties understanding the logic at first, there is so much text in the UI and not the time to read everything. But once I got it I enjoyed searching for the impurities ! Thank you for your game :)

Really cool idea and really cool aesthetics. I tried to figure it out legit with a pen and paper and I did it second guess. I got a bit lucky I think because I just wake up so I must have made a ton of mistakes.

I don't have windows so I cannot play the game, it would be great idea if you make it on mac or WebGL, I looked at the photos and description and it already looks AMAZING even though I didn't play the game, I'm sure that the actual game would be even better.

Interesting idea, I'm not sure I got it right, but it seems that there could be more than one candidate for the "puzzle". At first I was a little lost, but then I got it =)

But it liked it anyway, the sound was good and also the graphics.
Great job!

I struggled to figure out what I was meant to be doing at first. Lots of text to parse through.

Fun game with excellent atmosphere once I got into it though! Good work.

Your music is pretty creppy... I like it! It gives a proper atmosphere to purify people! :P

Love it, although when I completed it I felt like I was making a 50/50 guess at the end. Not sure the logic always leads to just one answer

Very good puzzle. i found the apostate but i don't really figure out how aha.
The atmosphere works well, maybe the sound loop is too short for people who dont find the apostate fast, like me aha

Great concept and atmosphere here. I found it really difficult to work out who needed to be burned but that's my bad logic. Well don!

@jamesdude it doesn't, it was a design problem that we're still thinking on how to solve actually. we either give info on the culprit, and the whole game collapses as a deduction-puzzle, or we don't and you always have 2/3 prob of failling.
if you have any suggestions, we'd be glad to hear some.

@earlybard it was hard to convey such a weird setting without the text, we tried to minimize it as much a possible. the first iterations had like 200% of what is now in this version.

I really like the art! I'm bad at this kind of logic, I can't remember who's who and with who, but I really like the idea!

Very cool art style, music and mood. You really need a pen and a paper to help you. Some visual clues next to the women could have helped a little bit (child/of age, hair, eyes) instead of having to highlight them to get the informations.

It's too bad the game doesn't give you the answer when you fail though.

Good job!

Very cool game! I love the concept, and a logic puzzle like this is a very unique take on the theme. The art, animations and music all created a wonderfully eerie atmosphere. Unfortunately we were unable to figure out how to solve the puzzle haha. That's partially on us, but it would have been helpful to have a bit more guidance, such as whether or not the list of people was in order. Regardless, great job!

Very unique game! It took me a bit to figure out the logic. Maybe allow the player to click through the text after purifying someone. Good job!

Reeaaally interesting game. A bit similar to Guess Who. I would really like to play a full on game with this mechanic in its core. Good job. I found it every time in 4-5th turn. I bet that's not that good but well, I tried :D

Very innovative! This game is really good! I think it could be better if we can see the colour of hair or eyes and don't need to read it. But i understand it is the style of the art :art: . Good luck!

Intriguing and difficult to understand at first sight. but clever idea, when you got it.

Need some UI improvement (graphic clues rather than textual, I think) to be more pleasant to play...

(my best was two turns with luck...)

Took me way too many attempts and eventually I did not find the apostate but that's because I am dumb. I really enjoyed the original approach and gameplay, however maybe some more streamlined UI would've made it easier to keep track of all the characters and qualities of the people. Still a pretty good game though.

Very nice aesthetics and the sound helps the ambient mood. I got significantly lost try to play this but I guess its apart of the idea.

This is a very solid entry that I feel is mired, unfortunately, by some easily avoidable sexism (intentional or not). I feel it would be worth the time to reword the text and include people of varying genders. My issue isn’t necessarily the actions in the game (they certainly fit the theme) but rather that specifically women and girls are being “purified.”
isaque-picao-sanches

@babyking
it depends on how your definitions. a big inspiration for making this game for instance is The Handmaid's Tale, which is a story about violence against women, and which wouldn't work thematically otherwise.
would you say all depictions of violence against women are by themselves sexist?
would you say The Handmaid's Tale is sexist?

we thought the game wouldn't make sense thematically if it included both sexes.

Somehow, I have already gotten used to the weird and sometimes macabre experiments coming out from this team's designers, yet, I still manage to be surprised at that times. Guess that's just the way things are, and I will just have to continue being amused. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Like always, that means that the mood and the presentation are the strongest points of this game, including everything from the choice of palette colours to the way text is presented and animations. It really emitters the eerie feeling of being in a cult circle, featuring child believers and all, and having to do 'purity' sacrifices for the sake of keeping integrity. Theming is strong in this one.

As for the gameplay itself, I have to echo some of the previous comments that have been made regarding the game and have to say that some of the clues had me scratching my head first. For example, I originally thought the clue of "It was not passed twice to anyone" meant that it hadn't been passed around through a second-set of persons other than the partners of the person who has sacrificed, and only later realized it meant that it hadn't been passed to the same person twice. Likewise, the clues of who held the item also only specify some specific traits that multiple characters share, yet at the same time I feel like having such ambiguous descriptions is forcing you to pick on luck, risk it being wrong, and doing some sacrifices.

I haven't had the chance to play the post-jam version yet as I am marathoning some last games before the clock ticks down to zero, but when I do, I will make sure to give it my feedback and buy both the creators a drink or a coffee or something. All in all, this was yet another intriguing entry from them and I got amused yet again! :whale:
