for future ludum dares, you could use a different engine that does let you make builds for free, such as Unity. Unfortunately you’re sort of stuck on this for now :’)
I suppose people who have/use game maker can play your game with the source code!
perhaps you can include some screenshots so we can see some of your hard work?
congratulations on making a game, by the way! you could also let your friends/family play on your local machine :)

Hey, I think you can host the source code on itch.io too. Way better than mediafire.

Can't help you with the building part since I don't have it too.

I agree with the other comment, try to find some other engine. Unity is also friendly (but less than gamemaker I think), but you can build for free. There are tons of others, but mostly are not as newbie friendly.

Congratulation on finishing it anyway! Hope you sort this out!

If you want a html build, host your source(maybe on github or itch.io) and I'll build it for you.(I don't have the windows version of gm)

I have the HTML5 version of GameMaker Studio 2, so I was able to give the game a try with the source code files you had linked before (I highly advise you to share those too - the Jam is as much about sharing your games as it is sharing your code so others can learn!).

It's a fun little game, reminds me a bit of Flappy Bird. Given the limitations of the free version of GMS2, I think you did a good job! It's a shame, then, that you chose an engine that pulled you back rather than helping you forward.
Since you're not going to spend money on GMS2, I would advise you to start working on Unity or Godot, both can be used for free and don't have the same limitations as GMS2.

To help you out, I have sent you the HTML5 version of the game all ready to be deployed on itch.io - so enjoy the sense of satisfaction of being able to enter the Game Jam. I hope we'll see your work on Ludum Dare 43!

Frankly this is a pretty basic side scroller. The being killed in one hit is pretty merciless, but that isn't necessarily bad. For me, it was hard to tell myself to keep going after I died, because I had to go all the way back to the beginning. Here's a thought, you've got that skateboard sprite, right. Consider adding a bit of inertia or physics to the skateboard's movement to emulate that of a real one. This would seperate it a little from all the other side scrollers. To wrap up, GameMaker is great for beginners, but you should definitely look for a different engine moving forward for the reasons outlined in the above comments.

Could get past room 4 :P, simple game - but not bad. I missed audio, maybe there went something wrong, otherwise add for example a nice catchy 8-bit theme playing in the background, a crash sound, etc. Also maybe consider to set the player back to the beginning of the level he failed and not to the beginning of the game (lvl 1). This way the player would be rewarded more often as he sees his progress saved.
