Running Out Of Power Plant by oakus
Old man in a nuclear power plant. Something went wrong and we all should quickly run out of this place. Unfortunatelly, his lack of willpower only makes this difficult. Plus he's on a electric wheelchair. That's running out power. Geez.
Control the wheelchair and get your grumpy old man into safety throught series of physical obstacles waiting for you in a seriously neglected nuclear power plant.
Controls:
Right/Left - Forward/Back
Up/Down - Rotate your wheelchair
Ctrl - Lament

Some obvious issues: if you fall down the hole after the 2nd ramp, there's nothing you can do but restart the game again - there also seems to be no end to the game, as after a while you just end up on the gray platform (unless there is a way somewhere that I happened to miss?) A wall before the gray area would have made that clear, at least, so right now I'm not sure what it was supposed to be. I get that 3 days isn't very long and I assume you simply... ran out of time.
All in all though, I really liked the idea and the graphics as well as the sounds were pretty awesome!
I like that it checkpoints to move you along without it getting too frustrating.
I will be honest: this game is not for me. But it's a very well done example of the genre, so I rated quite highly. The sound was a nice touch.
Love the checkpoint, good graphics. Maybe a music could be cool, be the sounds are enough for a jam entry. Good work ! :)
* I think the controls need a little tweaking to give more control to the player. it works well to move forward but when I tried to slowdown by pressing backwards most of the time it would had the character fall over and die.
* I like how the character moves forward and backwards in the wheelchair while you move around. Cool game :)
The controls are a bit hard since the old man really likes jumping out of the wheelchair.
It feels like a happy wheels clone with a bit stripped down gameplay, although the premise of the elderly guy escaping a nuclear reactor is rather cool.
The checkpoints are a nice addition, especially because you don't always feel in control when the old far tries to suicide. They are however a bit buggy, and you will sometimes get reset to an earlier point in the game.
You can also drive forward without the old guy sitting on the wheelchair, getting the next checkpoint before his head slowly hits the ground.
That balloon popping sound scared me a ton, it was really loud... kind of like an actual balloon, but still.
The sound effects are nice, maybe this game doesn't need a soundtrack..but some reactor ambiences would have been cool too.
Overall it looks rather nice, i would definitely tweak the controls and maybe gravity for the man a bit though.
Not sure if it was a bug but I seemed to just fall off the world after getting past the big nuclear balloon. Would have been very satisfying to get the guy out of there!
The "lament" option reminds me of Ennuigi: https://www.lexaloffle.com/bbs/?tid=2232&pid=12311&autoplay=1#pp
Fun idea. And impressive work for 48 hours!
I heard a rumor that you might have added a few features after the jam. Generally speaking you are only allowed to fix bugs, not to add anything new. If you do work on a post-jam version it should be a new build specifically marked as such. People need to be able to play the original jam version for rating purposes.
