Spacetime Landlord Tycoon by mechanicallife
The Game
Spacetime Landlord Tycoon is set in the near future where the living situation of the world is disastrous. There's just no space left for people to live, and who can afford their own place anyway? You play as the landlord of an apartment, where you rent out rooms for an hourly rate, and your job is to have as many tenants as possible in the apartment at the same time. They all have different needs for how many hours they need to be in certain rooms, and you need to schedule them so that it flows perfectly and no one is left unhappy, because unhappy people don't want to stay.

In terms of ways to improve, I think the scheduling and log UI could be cleaned up/clarified a little. The formatting within the log seemed rather random, and its not immediately clear how to use the scheduling feature (although that could also be done with a tutorial piece instead).
Really enjoyable game and impressive work for the time frame! Well done!
Impressive result for such a complex idea!
I just play a little, on the first impression (that is first 15 to 30 minutes) feel unbalance. The big problem I feel is lack off clarity when I was making money or not.
I thought that I have to make then happy and receve a daily rent, but apparently wasn't right (or working).
And I take good 10 minutes to understand how to move the first char to somewhere, until I reset and reread the tutorial.
Well this is my feedback. Everything else seen fine for me.
I made it to the second week before a bug sadly did me in; an inhabitant kept dying even though he was already dead and thus in the span of 2 days I had about 12 ghosts in the house; but not a lot of other Jam games can pull me in for the time I played so really outstanding job.
Excited for your next entries!
I got a lot of people in my house. Two people left and killed (literally killed D:?) two other people. Another one turned into a ghost. But I was somewhat managing it, some people were extremely happy, others not so much. I think I could perfect the schedule if I wanted to.
Also, the zombie is cool.
I saw in the screenshots that i can moove the characters but i couldn't really do it.
A good manual is missing here - overall it is a very great game :)
It took me a little while to understand how to do some things, like the scheduler.
But it was a cool game jam game.
Music is nice but really repeatitive
I love the gaphic style and voices are just genious :)
It takes me a moment to understand how to make the roommates really enter the flat.
I watched a friend from my team play it and will try it myself tomorrow. They found the menus and tasks somewhat confusing ... but yeah, I'll from my own opinion soon.
Super cool you guys got this much done in such a short time! Impressive!!
Great job.
One, I really liked the sound acting, it really added a lot to the game I believe. Still, I had a problem with a person being both notorious sleeper (wants 13 hours of sleep) and liking short sleep (5 hours sleep) in the same time. I don't think that's how it should be. The game also doesn't give enough time to settle down tenant before a new one comes in. I found myself coming a lot from the scheduler to the window that described the person, only to get interrupted by the window of new incomer. I know you could stop time - but for some reason, it seemed to start running again the moment I closed scheduler which was a pain in the ass to remember about.
The aesthetics of the game are great though. It's a pleasure to look at.
So yeah, that's my view. Thank you for linking me the game!
