I always end up doing this. I get excited about an idea and try to make a full game in 48h. I should've focused on the one mechanic of sacrifing vital aspects of the game and make something simpler.\n\n### Problems:\nI didn't have much time for polishing at all, here are my major concerns:\n* No audio! SFX is just sitting in a folder in the project, but I had no time to implement it. Didn't have time for music.\n* No particle effects! I had a bunch of ideas for particle effects, especially for the rocket boosters and coming out from the edges of the game screen.\n* The tutorial is really bad and confusing. Originally I wanted a walkthrough where I take you through all the UI of the game, but there was no time for this :(. Sorry!\n* Bad balancing (too high chance for HP drops, enemies are too easy, some things are not worth sacrificing at all, etc). I literally added 6 waves the last 2 minutes.\n* Graphics are mediocre at best and there are no scene transitions. Lots of other graphical inconsistencies I wanted to fix as well, for example the warped screen borders in the main menu and the game over menu.\n\n### Other info\n* I spent around 20 hours into making this game (streamed on https:\/\/www.twitch.tv\/lemorrow\/).","meta":{"author":[74735],"allow-anonymous-comments":"1","link-01-tag":"42332","link-01":"https:\/\/github.com\/LeMorrow\/Ludum-Dare-43","grade-06-out":"1","link-02":"https:\/\/marcusotterstrom.itch.io\/sacrifly","link-02-tag":"42336","link-03":"https:\/\/marcusotterstrom.itch.io\/sacrifly","link-03-tag":"42337","link-04":"https:\/\/marcusotterstrom.itch.io\/sacrifly","link-04-tag":"42339","link-05":"https:\/\/marcusotterstrom.itch.io\/sacrifly","link-05-tag":"42341"},"path":"\/events\/ludum-dare\/43\/sacrifly","parents":[1,5,9,120415],"love":0,"notes":2,"notes-timestamp":"2018-12-03T21:23:29Z","grade":{"grade-01":2,"grade-02":2,"grade-03":2,"grade-04":2,"grade-05":2,"grade-07":2,"grade-08":2},"magic":{"grade":2,"given":0,"feedback":0,"smart":-29.289321881345,"cool":0}},"text":"# Sacrifly\nOld-school space shooter where you sacrifice everything from movement speed to FPS to regain HP.\n\n## About\nComing soon (after a few good hours of sleep)\n\n## Controls\nRecommended hand placement:\nLeft hand on WASD and right hand on arrow keys (no mouse).\n\n* W\/S: Scroll between your sacrifice options\n* A\/D: Sacrifice (red) or Unsacrifice(blue)\n* Left\/Right arrows: Rotate ship\n\n## Screnshots\n![gameplay_2.png](\/\/\/raw\/fe3\/21\/z\/1c9a2.png)\n![gameplay_1.png](\/\/\/raw\/fe3\/21\/z\/1c9a3.png)\n![sacrifice highscore.png](\/\/\/raw\/fe3\/21\/z\/1c9a5.png)\n\n## Development notes\n### Lesson learned\nFor the love of god, keep your scope down!
