The visuals are really amazing! Just that the physics could have been better here and there. The audio was fitting in nicely too. Nice one

This game is awesome! Hard to believe you created this all by yourself in 48 hours! (I realize this sounds like I am doubting it but I don't, just to be clear :-) ).

One minor thing: the first level is hard until you get the hang of it - jumping from RV to RV while shooting - then you get a power up and the other levels are really easy. The other way around would have been nicer.

But that is just a small issue, this game has great graphics, great music and sound that add to the atmosphere and it also has tight controls - very nice job indeed! Thanks and keep up the great work!

@gonutz Thanks :) I felt the same way about the difficulty curve, but 48 hours you know? Haha!

Not bad not bad the graphics and the game in general is awesome, and the music gives it a good touch.

One thing that I found strange is that if you fall to the road and the caravan hits you, you don't lose health, maybe could be a good idea to add that.

Very nice piece of work, congratulations!

@quemagalletas That's a good point. I had considered this originally but ultimately forgot to try it out haha. If I continue the game, I'll keep this in mind!

Love the energy and the music. Very fun and chaotic. Although I felt the physics were a much bigger threat than any of the zombies, once you have a good angle they basically just fall over. It never felt very clear what the point of the top bar was, had a bunch of heads, I guess they were checkpoints but that could have been made more clear.
Overall very neat!

Falling forever...

+++ The music is awesome! I'm still humming the tune in my head. It fit so well with the mood of the game.
++ The idea of jumping off the top of vans was quite funny to me.
+++ I'll just repeat what others have mentioned by saying the graphics were well done.

x It takes a bit of time to get comfortable with the physics.
x I fell into a hole and kept falling.

Thanks for a great game.

It's really amazing that you put this together in the short time! Really, graphics, audio and gameplay are just great!

Unfortunately I've managed to fall out of the map with my first try, and it did not seem to count that as death, which you might want to change ;)

@zaygellard Ah! Sorry man I don't have a Linux machine to work with so I wasn't sure what architecture was best. I thought I had done Universal but I'll re-export to be certain along with some bug fixes for falling forever through the ground and such.

This game looks fantastic, it deserves the praise everyone is giving it for the graphics. I think the physics are a great addition too. This was a lot of fun to play and it felt great jumping between RVs. It would be good though if there was more of a reason to jump between the RVs. The best strategy, for me, seemed to be standing still and just mowing down zombies. Perhaps if keeping multiple RVs safe was a bigger part of the game, or you could recharge health by jumping to another RV, it would encourage jumping around more. Music was rocking too. Not the most extensive use of the theme.

I got some trouble with the physics when I fallen from the caravan the player seems to not respond well to the jump button.

Super glad you made this game! it's fast paced, fun and the graphics look super duper nice. The idea reminds me somewhat of a clustertruck vs L4D kinda deal, which is a compliment. Some possible tips for future development: I would make the levels a bit longer, it does feel like you fade to black rather quickly. Also, just an idea, but maybe make it so the stream of RV's is a loooot longer, the level is a bit rougher (more hills, gaps, bumbs that force you to stay moving), remove the front rv bonus and add an 'on the move' bonus. This would maybe activate people to jump more, because you never know which rv's are gonna crash/ explode.

But overal, very fun and nice game. Good job on making it!

Really well put together, I can tell you do this kind of thing often. Really great use of aesthetic, but I feel like the theme isn't really present. If it is, it's a bit of a stretch.

The game machanic with the RVs is a nice idea. The game feels a unbalanced after visiting the first shop because the weapon get way to strong when you upgrade it but all in all this is a great game, the visuals are nice and the sound fits the game really good, nice work!

High speed van platforming was awesome xD I liked the "front van bonus" it was really an incentive to move a bit more. The upgrades were so powerful that at the end I could just stand still on the first van and melt the zombies.

Thank you for taking your time to play our game, [Powered By Coal](https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/39/powered-by-coal), and leaving some feedback. A quick response: I'm glad you seem to have some faith in the game, really keeps the mood up after being kind of disappointing over how it turned out in the end. And I freaking hate making tutorials, and it got reflected in the final product :grimacing:
_____

Now to your game:

This must have been both a nightmare and fun to make. To polish this kind of game must have been difficult. **The physics are spot on** and I have no idea how you managed to bend the physics engine to your will.

I managed to beat the game after my second try so the difficulty was balanced. I found it both **fun and challenging**.

**The pixel art is great** and it really sets the mood for the game.

Overall I'm amazed over how polished this game is, how challenging it is and most importantly how fun it is!

Very Radical, I liked it!

The music and the opening scene set the theme, and the game kept it very well. It felt good to mow the zombies with the gun!

The gameplay itself was a bit tame, though. Basically, I could just stand on one RV and shoot until the game was over. Maybe it would be better if you were forced to jump to the front of the queue before advancing a level? Also, falling from the RV should have some sort of penalty.

But I did enjoy being a shirtless avatar of zombie destruction, thumbs up!

A nice shooting game, I enjoyed getting to upgrade at the end of the level.

:star: The art was well made, the audio fit very well with the overall aesthetic. You also managed to create a nice feeling of dread with the zombie wave. The jumping around had a nice tension that underlined the "hopeless zombie waves" feeling. Good work.
:point_right: The platforming felt a bit slippery for the importance of each jump, it wasn't a big deal if you don't fall off an RV, but once you did it was hard to get back up sometimes. Did you use the theme? I tried to think of how this game could have interpreted it, but it doesn't seem to have any "Running out of Power."

Overall you did good work, thank you for making this!

Really good looking game, fast paced aciton. I appreciate you showing controls in game - not enough jam games do that. My only complaint would be that jumping felt a little flaky sometimes. Nice graphics and sound design though! Great entry

Really gorgeous game! Great job! You might want to make the level endings feel a bit less sudden--I thought I died at first. I got sort of stuck trying to jump back onto the RVs and had a few other weird mostly physics-related glitches happen, but the gameplay overall is pretty good and feels surprisingly polished.

Great work!

Well produced, great graphics and the music is great (though sound effects a bit lacking in contrast). But:
* The platforming controls are really unresponsive, the best thing to do in the game seemed to be to just stand and not move. If you fall off, there's very little chance of getting back onto an RV. In fact I'd rather you instantly died if you fall off, as trying to get back on and the struggle is just terribly not fun.
* Don't think you did anything with the theme at all?
* Character upgrade? Died like 3 times and didn't see anything to that effect?

Hey @tuism thanks for the feedback!

Yeah I have heard the platforming controls are wonky. AFAIK there is a bug with jumping when not on an RV and some friction issues with RVs and strong angles. I'll fix these up once I get a free moment.

My attachment to the theme is rather benign on the gameplay but it is there. The intro is my attempt to tell a story of a post-apocalyptic man whose generator runs out, and is in dire need of more gas.

As others and myself have attested to, there are character upgrades. If you last a single round at the end you are greeted with a shop of upgrades. Like many rogue-like games players are rewarded after completing a wave/level to encourage continued play and lessen chances of doom. Jumping to dodge zombie attacks tends to help me a lot, maybe it can help you too!

I'll give you a tweet when I update the platforming so maybe I can get more feedback on the physics :)

Very nice graphics, sound, and concept.
It did seem pretty buggy though. Jumps randomly seemed to not work, or the jump strength would be out of whack (sometimes I'd jump one foot, a couple times I jumped like 100ft).
I'd love to play this some more, maybe it can be stabilized, and also expanded on after voting.

Having the RVs be controlled by themselves was a great idea. Constantly moving forward gives a great sense of action in this game, and the music fits perfectly. Nice to hear a bit different style of music as well.

Game was fun, graphics were really good and the screen movement and stuff really added to it. Sound was good, mood was too. Difficulty curve was totally backwards (could stand still after the first round) but other than that it was a good concept with a good execution. GJ!

I wanted to try some game and give my point of view but for this one there is nothing to say it's just perfect ! The ambiance, the introduction to the game, the sounds the idea, the pixel art ... I love this game ! Maybe I would like a kind of more progressive difficulty because you die very fast during the first tries but it's just to say something because that a really awesome game !

I really like this game! The style of gameplay is quite fun, and having things to upgrade always feels satisfying and rewarding. I didn't find any glitchy or buggy behaviour, it was an all around very finished and complete game. You should be very proud of being able to make this on your own in 48 hours!

However, after I beat the game I had a sneaking suspicion that I just had to check out, and I was right:
It's completely possible to finish this game without doing *anything*. I tried to not touch a single key, as in, not move or shoot or do anything, and I still won the game. The zombies couldn't get to me on the RV, and I didn't fall off. So while it's fun to play it as intended, right now there's no need to do so. You're pretty much just shooting the zombies for the fun of it, not because you actually need to.

Fast-paced and cool. Love the parallax background and the physics, that moon is bad-ass. But shooting lacks juice in my opinion - bigger projectiles, screenshake and more bassy sounds would help, I guess. It also felt not challenging enough, but it might be just me.

Graphics and music are great and worked well in setting the mood for the zombie gameplay. Liked that you could jump from RV to RV also. Allowed me to start on the first RV and then when getting overrun to just jump on the next one and try and make up some more ground again which worked as a strategy.
