made by ninjacreeper47 for LD 43 (JAM)

Inspired by the arcade game Missile Command, You aim to shoot at meteorites that are falling from the sky. Cities have shields that have a 75% chance of reflecting meteorites (the shields are especially vulnerable from the sides) Every shot takes power. The only way to regain power is to permanently take down one of the shields for your cities. How long can you survive?

Not bad, I found it a lot easier to survive with just 1 building than with more.

It fits the theme really well.

Nice game! I really enjoyed this. It has HEAPS of innovation that makes it drastically stick out. Although the graphics are simple, they convey everything clearly. I like the risk versus reward system a lot. The humor is on point and I like how the audio becomes more frantic the more cities that die. Keep up the great work!

Nice Space-Invaders-y game. I loved how thematically adequate the game is, it manages to create these "sacrifice or die" situations in a short timespan !

Pros :
- Crystal clear goal and concept
- Clean and readable visuals
- Some effort but on the audio side
- Good balance, starting easy but becoming tense real quick

Cons :
- A small explaination text at the beginning would help (it is really easy to miss the info that the shields are vulnerable from the sides)
- Shooting would be enhanced a lot by some more "juice" (some screenshake, bigger and faster projectiles)

All in all, great job !

Yes, it's very Missile Command. I did like the twist that you had to sacrifice something (your shields, and in effect one of your cities) to get more ammo. I wish my shots moved a little faster and didn't stop halfway up the screen though, and that I had a "nuke everything" option I could deploy when things got really hairy. But a good effort overall.

@rumor I should have said this in instructions in game but the shots go towards where your crosshair was and disappear once they arrive at that location, so where they disappear is controlled by you.
Thanks for the feedback, I love the idea of a nuke everything option and I think I'm gonna add that in a V2 after rating is over.

Imo, bullet disapearing is little bit weird, as well as bouncing meteorites.
I think adding just a sound effect on impacts, maybe with a smooth shake camera would improve it a lot !

pretty decent but it was weird to see the meteorites bouncing off the walls -- nice game
