Hey everyone! So this is my game for Ludum Dare #38. I had not as much time this year as I had in the previous years - so I could not put everything planned into the game. Also, there might still be some bugs :) BUT I have finsished a small game and I really enjoyed the jam and the community again! So... have fun playing: WHAT A SMALL WORLD!

Haha! Very funny ending. I love the idea of the world getting bigger as the player does things other than play video games in his room. The art and music are also great.

Though I like the ending, I wish I could see more of what he discovers.

I loved the idea of days getting longer and world getting larger! Nice music and graphics. I also loved your ending it was perfect! Would have loved it if it was longer but it is really great you managed to do that in only 48hours! It was really fun to play, great work!

Thx everyone here! I really wished that I had more time - so basically it was a 14 hour jam for me. Exactly as you guys said, I would have done the game, the scenes, the impressions on each object much longer, but I think for jams it is more important to have a nearly bugfree, solid game. But anyway: Thank you for your kind words! And yes - i am still smiling at the flying sequence myself haha :)

Nice pixel art ! The idea of opening the "world" by interacting with object is pretty cool, the nolife discovering bit by bit the world outsid his room ! :laughing:

It was a bit short indeed, but already great for a 14 hours jam ! The end was unexpected and made me smile ! :sweat_smile:

Funnily enough, I think the length served the game well. Quick in and out, having a chuckle at the ending, and I am left with positive energy.

Cute game and fun. The triggers movitate me to follow the story.
It is short, but for 14h it is very good :)

It seems that for gamers it is better to stay in their little world. I don't know who this NPC was, but she? didn't seem to be bothered when player's character got sent to low Earth orbit.
I liked how his world kept getting bigger. Graphics look nice, they remind me of RPG Maker. Being able to walk into flowers and NPC wasn't something that I expected.

Haha, cute little game, very nice and polished. There was a bug when the game takes over control of the player, the first time i didn't realyze that and kept moving the curser keys so i was somehow able to avoid the car and didn't see the end sequence.

Great gfx and good educational value, love the message of it.

Actually, i think i will turn off the screen and go for a quick walk right now :)

A really funny game! I love graphics and "world concept" too. I laughed a lot with game boy in bathroom and the unexpected ending :laughing:.

The game was sadly a bit short. But it's Ludum Dare, and I too know what it's like to not have much time already in a short time span. :sweat_smile: At least you got enough done, AND it was hilarious! Great work! :grin:

This was real nice! I love the morale of the story: Playing games in your house and avoiding social interactions effectively allows you to live your life safely. How good is exploration when there's death around the corner, ironically by being hit by a car -- the number one cause of death for pedestrians in Grand Ripoff Driver. Your game showcases the passion for video games and that we can live perfectly long and happy lives in a small world of our own making :)

It's short and sweet and when stepping outside and the upbeat music setting in, I had a severe and substantial Stardew Valley flashback, so that's a very good thing.

That ending XD Great humor content.

The mechanic of interactions unlocking new areas is a great way to scope progress here, would have been nice to better call attention to unlocked areas. There are some collision issues which stick out in a game about finding things that are active, but nothing too bad. Enjoyable to play, thanks.

Man, that was a great experience! I really like games like this – small but with something to tell. I felt little cheated when the game took control away from me, maybe that could be avoided by leading a player to the road visually, but it's not a big deal. The game was awesome!

Wow that was a quick sit. The graphics and music are definitely good in this (could have used some chiptune but you captured a good feeling in this); I love the tiny pixelart of the outside world. And I agree with the others that you set the music cue up great in this. I also love the sounds of interacting with things inside the house. The video game bloops were super satisfying. Despite the presence of an NPC, I'm surprised you don't get to talk with this individual.

My only huge issue with the game overall is that whenever the character runs into a wall or solid object, the screen goes crazy and quivers back and forth like there's an earthquake going on. I don't know if this is intentional - it doesn't seem to be, and is really disorienting.

I did like the dialogue, but the text boxes should really linger until the player moves away from said object they just interacted with, imo. Overall, it was a short and sweet game with a rather unexpected ending.

Short but sweet :) Nice music, sound effects, graphics (the player animations are particularly cute), and dialog/story, with an amusing ending! The collision was a bit buggy (where you shake whenever you walk into something), but I'm sure you know that. Walkthrough video was also appreciated!

A short, interesting experience! Here’s the quick rundown of my thoughts:

PROS
- Pixel art is lovely
- Interpretation of the theme is really nice

- Would've really liked to see more

Funny! Was a little weird that I could interact with a bunch of things but not the other person in the house tho, heh! I guess that's what happens to those that deep down in the gamer bog...

Interesting little reversion of the theme. And interesting how the music appeared once the character got outside. Was that intentional, or did you just not have time for indoors music as well? Had a bit of a funky effect anyhow!

Small but neat. Good job!

Totally missed the ending! I kept going over the road and the truck went by above me- was stuck here for a while.

Watched the vid and got what was supposed to happen. Played on mac, safari- see now the "play windows standalone for best experience" ;D Great job! Love that you had something to say! EDIT: Just saw that this has been noted! Sorry for the repost!

@joemid: yea there are a couple of bugs left - but even those bugs belong the the whole ludum dare thing :)
