Presenting DISCO DEATH RACE. A game by Guineazilla!

title.png

Oh no! You're dropped in a world full of GOA-music and fluo-colored race-tracks. Can you survive this dance-battle-race without driving off the road?

Screen.png

Drive your race-car using the WASD-keys (or ZQSD-keys when on an AZERTY-keyboard). But don't forget to hit the ARROWS at the right times. Making a dance-combo will give you your much-needed turbo-boost during the race. Enjoy! We hope you'll have as much fun playing DISCO DEATH RACE as we did building it.

And of course, we would appreciate if you can rate this entry.

No support for Azerty makes this quite hard to play. Very difficult to keep track of the track AND the sounds, and I would've loved to see more integration between the two game mechanics. Now they're just entirely separate. Good theme, graphics and audio though!

Couldn't really play as it wasn't scaled to my res well (2560x1440) I like the idea very much though!

This was fun! Nice choice of genres to mix! It is really hard to keep track of everything, and i find myself often driving off the road because i keep looking at the arrows!

@Aerynus it should also work on an Azerty keyboard with the zqsd keys ;)

At first, it was kinda like patting your head and rubbing your stomach at the same time, but once I got used to it it was really fun! good work!

It'd be great if you could check out our game! https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/rattys-stew-an-immersive-cooking-simulation

Really cool and chalenging idea! The graphics and musics are really well chosen and work perfectly with your facepaced gameplay, well done!

Ahhh, the classic pat your head and rub your tummy at the same time. In digital racing DDR format. I hate it! :D

I was really afraid of creating something like this by making the player play two games at the same time.

Would have garnered a bit more points if there was an actual DDR board with someone dancing on the roof of the car.

Sorry, can't tell much about visuals because I was concentrated on that arrows. Oh, arrows are nice. =)

Jokes apart, I enjoyed the image. Gameplay is intense and needs some practice - right as it should be. Great work! The only thing I found a bit annoying is the need to use mouse to navigate UI screens when all the other things are controlled with a keyboard.

I quite like the mixing of themes. Also liked the disconnect between the arrow keys and the wasd keys as a mechanic.

This one is fun. It might have been easier to play if the rhythm part of the game was closer to the center of the screen.

Awesome! After adjusting my screen res so that it worked :stuck_out_tongue: I had a decent time playing this. The core mechanic is rather hard to get into (arrows pointing to where I need to go, arrows I need to press, arrows arrows arrows?!) but after a few tracks, it's fairly simple. I was a little annoyed that the complexity is more so dependant on how long the track is rather than clever use of the core mechanic, but that's not too big of an issue, I'm just being picky. The more annoying issue was the placement of the arrows that you need to watch... Most of the time the driving was done in my peripheral vision, having the arrows closer to the car may have made the experience better.

Graphics, awesome! Music, awesome! Theme, interestingly awesome! Overall ... Great job

This game is so insanely good! I LOVE the music and the gameplay! Graphics have nice 80's look to them, although they lack some polish. Great game, music was definitely it's strongest side.
