Although small, I felt inside the game :)
I love the idea, and the graphics and sound are great!
In terms of graphics, the sketch art integrated with the natural photography gives a great effect. I feel like their could have been some subtle atmospheric effects around the island, just to lend a little more life to match the soundscape in the background.
In terms of audio, the design was fantastic!
In terms of gameplay, I feel the game should have been sped up somewhat. The little brother needs too much food, and he does not fetch enough sticks. For me at least (I don't know how much random generation affects the play time) the game dragged on a little bit too long. One more random event could also have been helpful. That's obviously just my experience and opinion, and I'm sure many others would disagree.
Fantastic work overall! Best mood of all the games I've played so far.
TerraCottaFrog's experience was the opposite of mine, my session ended in about 2min and I only fed the brother once. I wanted more!
Maybe to keep things going, the brothers could build a raft instead of a hut, then travel downstream to a new place with different stuff to fish up!

The play experience is so different from player to player, as I used "random numbers" to decide when to spawn the next seed/branch. This made it really hard to balance in the end and I run out of time to change it.
Also @local-minimum: yes I realized it was looking like a fireplace as I was drawing it too, so I definitively agree ^^ Ran out of time to redo it, the hut was done in the very end.
And @terracotta-frog, on the atmospheric effects. I made a subtle water animation, because I felt the same, but I ended up removing it from the game later, as it tripled the games size.
Here is what it looked like (it's really subtle):

In the concept art I also had some reflections in the water, which added a lot to the visual look .. but no time to make such a shader ^^
The pacing was a bit annoying and I thought it was stuck when all he fished out was berries and was just sad all the time. I think the gameplay needs work to make it more interesting. Great work with the cuteness though!
It was simple and beautiful. I loved your atmosphere so poetic and expressive, it really got to me. I apreciated the originality and personnal touch of the mixed technique, I think that it participates greatly in producing the moving ambiance that produces your game. But above all, huge congratulation about the sound design, the guys next to me are totally overrating all the jam games right now just because your music is playing in the background : ) It is for sure extremely touching.
It's rated <3
And it's cool seeing another stencyl game in the jam! Good job
Nice work.
I would have liked more tasks and that the player was able to move a bit faster.
Overall a lovely relaxing game with a good mood! :)
You asked me to release my game as a web version.
here you go: https://gamejolt.com/games/the-adventure-of-malvin/253679
Overall, a very cute entry!
A minor note on the controls: the existing scheme is a bit uncomfortable, supporting alternate inputs (i.e. arrows for movement or e for action) would make it a bit easier to play.
The art is very cute and I like the combination of the photograph with simple designs. Maybe a small cycling water animation around the bait and the rock would have help for a better integration, and some particules to make this small world a bit more lively. Otherwise you did a great job with the sounds and the cute lullaby!
Concerning the game play, it's simple but the experience is nice and the progression is fast... so no time to get bored! It's quite relaxing and satisfying to build something. I like the interactions between the brothers, they are so cute I would love to have more options! I think it would be a good concept for a collaborative/multiplayer game too.
I enjoyed playing this little game, and it was so far one of my favorite entries!
Looking forward to seeing more! keep up the good work :)
There actually was a water animation in the game, but I removed it from the Web version, as it increased the file size by 10mb.
I thought about multiplayer too, maybe this is sth. I could do in a future project :)
But he went on stick fishing combo instead and we finished the hut in few seconds.
Graphics and music went really well together.
It was missing some more interactivity and background felt a little too dead but it was a solid entry.
I wish this one was longer T________T The graphics, the voice acting and de water sfx, this is a very aesthetic piece of art you made.
Congratulations to the team!
My only complaint would be that the game is pretty short. I would have loved to see more of that scenery.
One note: I was able to download the game via the itch.io app, so I assume you marked it as Windows-compatible. However it doesn't play from the app. It plays fine from the website, but I thought you might want to know.
Edit: I recalled one thing, though: Having different keys for pick up and drop didn't really serve a purpose as you can't drop when you don't have anything and can't pick up stuff if you have something, so I think one key would have been more practical. Also having WASD for movement and then having the action keys on the left side of the keyboard as well (for US keyboards) is a bit unwieldy.
As far as it goes with the itch.io App glitch @cerno-b I'm gonna contact the itch guys. I checked and it's not marked for Windows. (the Browser version works on all major desktop platforms tho)
The little characters somehow reminds me of the "Mucklor" from the [Pettson and Findus](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pettson_and_Findus) series of chlildens books.

(As far as I know these books are not very known abroad, but in Sweden they are something _everyone_ reads as a child)
If I would change anything I only change one thing: move the 'Pick up' from z to more or else anywhere else,
As for the background sounds. This is the first entry in this LD where I've kept the game running in the background long after I finished playing. It's so soothing.
Great job!
