Lazors by Bingdom

[raw]
made by Bingdom for LD 43 (COMPO)

Instructions

Capture flags by holding E when you're near it (there's an in-game hint). You will die when you capture the flag (theme incorporation) Whoever owns the most amount of flags will deplete the enemy team's tickets. When you cancel a capture, you have to wait half a second for your character to recover.

Important

This game has an update bug with monitors that have a higher refresh rate than 60Hz. If the game is running more than 60fps, try disabling G-sync, or run the game in windowed. Thanks.

Controls

  • WASD or Arrow Keys - Movement
  • Left Click - Shoot

  • E (hold) - Capture flag

  • B - Toggle Bloom (toggle this if your game is running slow)
  • M - Toggle Sounds
  • F1 - Toggle Fullscreen
  • F12 - Take a screenshot (located %localappdata%\Lazors)

Cool concept!
I think the whole pace of the game needs to slow down a little. It may be just me, but every time I respawned, I scrambled about and died again after 3-5 seconds. I think the enemies are a little too good fast and have a little too good of an aim.

A good game, I liked the graphics and the ability to shoot up the levels, but it was very hard.

Really cool game! I liked the visual style and gameplay!
One thing to note, it seems like the speed of the game is tied to the refresh rate.
I by default am at 144hz, so the game was playing at over 2x speed.
I knocked it down to 60hz, and i imagine thats what you intended it to feel like.

Man, this would be really fun with friends. The game is a bit floaty but has a really fun level of skill to take out the enemies.

One more report of framerate dependence, though one additional thing to note - in windowed, everything seems to run correctly no matter the monitor.

Anyway: the game is very polished. The AI is superb; it hits *just* often enough that it is engaging but not frustrating, and seems to never get stuck in one place. The effects - ground-dim on hit, death explosion, etc - are excellently executed.

Some small criticisms: I was somewhat annoyed by how well you had to track the enemies to kill them. Additionally, the music is a bit too repetitive.

I'm very interested in how this might play in multiplayer with a few additions to the mechanics. Great entry!

Cool game. I like the multiple levels, the graphics have a very Tron feel. The enemies are a bit too hard to hit and their aim is devastatingly good. My Kill:death ratio when I'm playing is probably around 1:10, the winning strategy seems to be capture the flags and let my computer teammates do the majority of the shooting.

About the monitor issue - I don't have control over that engine bug, unfortunately.

Sorry about that!

I believe disabling G-sync helps fix the issue for playing the game in fullscreen. If you don't want to disable g-sync, as someone has already said, play in windowed. :)
Thanks for the ratings, the feedback, and most importantly; playing! :D

Gameplay is fun and addictive. Game mechanics fit the theme perfectly. AI is impressive but not too hard to beat (a bit frustrating because it moves frenetically).

I very much enjoyed playing it. Congratulations, and thank you for making this game!
