Buffet Run by great-bobleny

[raw]
made by great-bobleny for LD 40 (COMPO)

screenCap.jpg Navigate a series of levels by managing your weight.

Only tested in Chromium, probably works in Chrome...

Controls- AWSD to move. 'e' to eat the chocolate bar.

Notes- Just a basic javascript game. index.htm is the start page. editor.htm allows you to edit the level.

Play on itch.io: https://bobleny.itch.io/buffet-run-ludum-dare-40

Known Bugs-

Missing "event" parameter in key functions (keydown, keyup). Chrome ignores it, but it probably won't work in any other browser.

Behind the simplistic delivery is actually a neat concept that I think if given more time could be a very cool idea. Nice work!

I couldn't figure out how to get to the buffet. Can you swim up the waterfall?

(I tested on firefox and it doesn't detect input so I used Chrome.)

The gameplay isn't really intuitive and I couldn't understand how to progress. Perhaps add a few tips in the description ?

Also you should have disabled audio in the ratings since there is none. If you do other jams in the future try to add at least some sound effects, it adds a lot to a game.

Overall it's seems interesting but it's quite barebones (the graphics are okay but there aren't any animations, the movements are cell based and feel a bit choppy, there isn't any audio and the main mechanic is hard to understand).

This review feels quite negative but you still finished a game which is cool so congrats for that ! I think the whole point of reviews is to improve oneself and if I'm not honest it won't be useful, so good luck !

Tried in Firefox, as I was expecting from the description, the keys don't work ...
