More Research! by Zipp

[raw]
made by Zipp for LD 40 (COMPO)

"More Research!" is a quirky little game that plays around with weight. You're a scientist/astronaut that wants to research a planet. On this planet you'll find different items with different weights that will hinder how fast you move and how high you jump. The goal is to bring all of the items to the ship and place them in the top bowl-like container. You'll find different puzzles and some will have different ways to solve them. I sincerely hope you enjoy my entry to Ludum Dare 40!! @adrien-dittrick hmm, that's odd, I don't really know what could be causing it

It was a fun if a bit long game. I like the idea but the last levels are too much of a slow back and forth with heavy stuff. But I have to say, the amount of content here is astonishing!

I also don't understand why the music is so low? I can't even hear it, and the constant beeps ended up being kinda annoying.
Overall, a fun little game, great job!

Pretty interesting puzzle game. It's very much your classic button opens/closes door puzzle game but set in space. Personally I can tell a lot of effort was put into this game but I think it was put into the wrong areas.

First of all I would like to say that the asthaetics of this game are great. The pixel art is very well done and consistent! Very consistent (though I thought the background was a bit 'too' starry). The music though a bit quiet added some nice atmosphere and it really does tick that mood box quite confidentaly.

However, I found that for one, the camera follows the player a bit too slowly, I can see this game being nauseating for some people as a result. It was a bit finicky sometimes getting the items into the ship also. I found that slowing the player down when they held an item was a good way of conveying weight but personally I found it a bit too harsh on the slowing down. I think my biggest problem is that beyond the nice atmosphhere and pretty graphics the actual game is kind of missing. The thing that makes puzzle games so special is their abilty to make you rethink everything when a new challenge or obstacle appears. I made it pretty far into the game and most of what I found were simple button puzzles.

I think that this game needs a few more puzzle mechanics but otherwise it's a pretty solid game that has a good foundation for future updates.

Interesting mechanic but it start to lose freshness pretty fast. You manage to put a lot of content on the game in so little time! Great work on that. The camera and the jumping could use more work. It's a bit frustrating to have to wait so long for the character to land.

Cool game. One possible improvement could be not to change pick items once they are in the ship.

Nice simple game, but would have loved a bit more complexity / challenge. :)

Good game. I like the visual style and the big jumps! The puzzles are interesting and could be expanded/improved in the future. The time constraint doesn't leave much time to think about puzzles but still, there is a lot of content. Great work overall!

Very interesting game. The pixel art is good. I just wish the levels was a little smaller and the character was a little faster (while carrying an item). Good work!

That's a solid entry. I is really nice to have an entry with some puzzle levels, and a progression. With slight touches (background, art, music, objects), it is interresting to see how you have managed to create an atmosphere. The "research" theme works great with the objects. It would have been a great opportunity to add some story telling (even without text, through the objets you gather and their environment)!

The caracter and ship are really cute (even though their design is really common)
